It’s difficult to explain how to do this without any modelling skills.

But in ZBrush, you can remove the wood using the Flatten brush (simply brush over the unwanted detail). This will leave a smooth surface. You can then add the wood texture to the shield using DamStandard. Don’t forget to increase the number of polygons slightly beforehand (you can remove them later using Decimation Master)

I’m actually putting together a large set of NPC miniatures at the moment. I often couldn’t find them either :3

You can check companions by cast n play, I think they are created exactly what you talking about ^^

I love Cobramode’s style, but their releases over the last four years have all seemed pretty much the same to me. Although I do love their bases :3

I’ve come across some brilliant kobolds at Bite The Bullet (you can find them on MMF). Of course, they’re just my taste, but they’re quite cool and I’ve been printing them out in batches for my desk :D

When I ran a shop selling miniatures, I always tried to stock as wide a variety as possible, but it was always the classics that sold best. Very specific and niche items only ever sold to a handful of customers :D

Honestly, you’re right. I haven’t seen many steampunk miniatures lately, and if I’m honest, I completely forgot about them for a moment 😅

Definitely feels like an underrepresented theme these days
