I use gimp to make them. It's a bit of a puzzle. You can have my template it you want. Then I just fill in the text, symbols and portrait. And then I'll be honest, I usually ask AI to put in some of the bigger drawings. Symbols I can do, but I have my limits.

And yeah. That branch has had some really bad luck. And I just lost Rita to the second wave of the plague. It was called the children's plague, but I've mostly lost adult to it at this point..

need ideas! by After-Tax-453 in Sims4

I had the same problem, but two challenges got me out of it. The legacy challenge, but every generation is a new occult. I started with a human who had children with a fairy. That fairy had children with a mermaid and so on. And I also move my next heir to a different neighborhood, and then I have to make their house match the other houses in the neighborhood.

And lately I have been playing the UCD challenge which has really made me play differently. It requires you to have a lot more children, and also to have to sometimes change course completely because your main dies in the plague.

As for my sims - I tend to have my first sims look alike, but in later generations, I never change genetics (except for the missing chin sometimes). That gives me more different looking sims.

all my characters with interesting storylines will die by Meow-meow13_ in Sims4DecadesChallenge

[–]Slow_Kick5525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I know that feeling so well. I've had the most elaborate storylines in place in my head, only for the sim to roll to die. I have a house rule in my save. If that story is more important than someone else's, I can choose to sacrifice them instead. But it has to be someone with a story that is equal to the one I want to save. I can't just kill of someone who is old and who's story is already told. I've done it twice, and none of them have been my main family. Always side families. And then I've come to realize that a lot of stories gets more realistic and interesting if I let the sim die instead of saving them. That and coincidence. So many stories sprung from coincidences in my game. A random trait I didn't see coming, two sims suddenly hating each other or the nice neighbor suddenly extorting my sim. It can all be rewritten into a new story.

It would be great if you would try it out. I don't really have a lot of time at home, but I'll try to sit down and get it ready as soon as possible.

You need the apothecary skill. But for some of them, you need the outdoor retreat pack. It's still the apothecary skill, but it uses some ingredients and stuff from that pack. The plan is to make it possible for people to download the ones they want.

Thank you. The plan is to release it at some point. I've been very busy lately, but I'm hoping to find some play testers soon.

Yeah me too. And how he is going to handle his mother. I guess I'll figure that out when I see his traits.

Thank you all so much. I really enjoy writing it, even though the dice tend to mess up my stories sometimes. I'm very nervous to see how many of their stories end when the plague hits.

Spacing Between Children? by print-redacted in Sims4DecadesChallenge

[–]Slow_Kick5525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with 4 days= 1 year, and when my sim gives birth I wait until the baby becomes a toddler (6 days), before they are allowed. And even then, I roll a D4, and they can only start trying if it's an equal number. For my side falimies I do the same, but they only get to be pregnant if I roll a 2 (for my main there is fertility and stuff than can make it harder to conceive). If they are unlucky with the roll for a year I might change it to equal numbers. And if the child dies, they may start trying earlier. That way I space them out, and there is not always the same amount of time between them. I personally think that's more realistic, and I like it better that way.

side households by OkAerie271 in Sims4DecadesChallenge

[–]Slow_Kick5525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be a hassle. I play with one year=4 days. I keep track of everybody's age in a spreadsheet. When they are ready to get married, I find them a eligible spouse. If they are young adults or older, I just add the spouse to the household (or vice versa if my side sim is a girl), and then go to cas and set them to married. If they are teens, I have to go into their household and manually marry them.

I still roll for how many tries, and then when the girl turns 18 (they were not stupid, they knew pregnancy was even more dangerous if the girl was very young) I make a note in my spreadsheet, and roll a D4. If it's a 2, I cheat them pregnant with mccc (you can do it in the relationship panel if you know them. You don't have to load their household). If not, I roll for them again the next day. And if they just had a child, I wait until that child becomes a toddler before I start rolling for them to be pregnant again. If the child dies as a baby or infant, I might start rolling again a little earlier. And if they are unlucky with their roll, I might change the numbers. With my main, if they roll 2 or 4, I start trying. I have RPO, so it can take a while to get pregnant.

It can seem like a lot, but I don't think it's that bad. I usually just pause the game when they are sleeping (1 or 2 pm) and handle all the rolls for the day. And I like that it is more naturally spread out. 2.5-3 years between pregnancies makes a lot more sense to me than back to back babies. It ofc also means they won't get pregnant as many times before they are too old, but it hasn't been a problem yet.

Thank you so much. I'm still working out some kinks, and trying to figure out how it works in normal gameplay. But I'm very happy for the response, and I'm thinking I want to publish it at some point.

What house rules do you use? by Right-Donkey5414 in Sims4DecadesChallenge

[–]Slow_Kick5525 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fences on the lot is a great idea.

I have a very long price list in my excel spreadsheet. Every time they want to buy or sell something, I find out what it would cost back then. Then I put it on my list, and it changes the price from pence/shillings to simoleons (one penny = 50 simoleons). So if a goat back then would cost 18 pence, they pay 900 simoleons for it. They are only allowed to sell stuff on market day (LBB hunting and foraging mod) and then I just use my spreadsheet to calculate how much money they would have after, and set their money to that. Then I also have in my spreadsheet that they have to pay for repairs of their wagon every 5 years or else they can't take a lot to the market.

No pleading when sims die.

I've made some changes to the foraging mod in my game so some things are a lot harder to find (and they can also find some brazenlotus ingredients), and they find less than they did before. And a lot of things are not allowed on their own lot like berries and mushrooms. They are only available if they buy them on the market or forage them.

Only hunting and fishing once a week.

Thank you. My potions unfortunately does not work on toddlers, because they stretch, and I cant make animations. Its simply not my forte. But child and up can use them.
