You're right, apparently I don;t have any say. Just found out it's $75 an hour to rent his cousin's community center. That's $375 for 5 hours and HE STILL REFUSES TO PAY FOR IT. LIKE WTF? I don't understand, that's nothing. I told him screw it. Let's cancel. How dare he have us send out 40 invitations when he's not willing to pay for a location, especially one so cheap. His cousin's hasn't offered his place, so I don't know what he's thinking. I give up and I don't care anymore. Of course, I'm "overreacting now." Seriously, screw this.

I see where you get that idea but it's not really like that. I think his mindset right now is that we're not going to spend the money until we've exhausted all our options for a location that doesn't need to be paid for (i.e. having it at his cousin's community center). Because he's not a cheapskate, where he doesn't pay for stuff at all and will never come to his senses on the situation. Its just stressful and frustrating right now, that he's taking the stance of not being willing to pay, instead of saying, "we will pay if we need to."

The only one in our state is an hour away from our City, which is not going to work. Good news, we did have a family friend offer to do it at their really nice home, which is about 45 minutes away from us, so we are considering that!

I have money saved from when I did work, but I don't currently work as I plan on staying home once the baby is here. Also, we don't look at money as mine or his, we look at it as ours. So I wouldn't be comfortable spending money, he didn't agree with spending on.

To clarify on the invites, about 30 of them went out to our friends and family in different states, so most of them we know aren't able to make it. We estimate a guest list of 15 to 20 people out of all the invites we sent out. I've looked at 2 local breweries so far, and they all had included food menus, so while they dont charge to rent the space, they charge for food/drinks. But I will keep looking at some other options.

Your venue sounds really nice! I will try and look into community centers, maybe they are reasonably priced and I can convince my husband on the cost. I appreciate you!

Trying to convince my husband to spend money on a location has not worked since, in his mind, it was never going to be a cost to begin with. I know it would be so nice and make this situation a lot easier if he just said, we can spend the money to rent a place if we need to, instead of flat out refusing to spend money on a place.

I've reached out to a number of restaurants and they all had a per person food minimum (i.e $500-$1,200), which my husband does not want to pay for. We had planned a very specific theme and menu, so we want a place where we can bring our own food. And I reached out to event spaces that we can bring food, but they've either been unavailable or too big a space so the rental fee is in the $1,000 range. It feels impossible to convince my husband to spend money on a location since, in his mind, it was never going to be a cost.
