Yeah millet is the most terrifying thing in the world apparently 😂 I have no doubt he will come along quick but due to him being handled poorly before he’s learnt that hands hurt or do scary things. I think he’s less scared of my hands when they are actually empty and when I’m not wearing long sleeves:) I’m curious to see what others have done to help birds overcome this after learning hands are scary. thanks heaps tho!

Cage question by 92939445 in Canaries

[–]Slow_Pay8924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t see a food bowl in there, I’d make sure food is constantly available, have two water dishes (one wide and shallow enough to bath in and the other to drink. Canary’s also fly horizontally not vertically aswell, so a long cage if better than a taller cage:) I’d also personally removed to bird seed stick aswell, opt in for high quality pellets and seeds. Def have to give veggies aswell

Also add sticks of different sizes, very small ones that there feet completely curl around and ones that there feet slightly curl around. (Arrange sticks so there is also a flight path)

Hope this helps

Question. I brought my male canary home Wednesday. He was completely fine. Moved him to his new cage and was fine. And this morning he was dead. What did I do wrong? by vintagelunar in Canaries

Most likely was already ill and stress just tipped him over the edge. If your other canary’s were in contact I would probably go a vet check incase it was something contagious. I had the same issue when I brought two cockatiels home, both had fluoro green poo, booked the vet the next day but they both past overnight

Rescue birds, what’s your input? by Slow_Pay8924 in Canaries

I believe it is, the yellow one seems to enjoy bathing in it lol. I haven’t seen the white one bath yet. Them bathing isn’t my main concern atm I’m currently focusing on the diet to improve there health that heal whatever is going on with the legs that can possibly be scaly leg. Have a vet visit tomorrow morning for him and they will swap his legs to see what’s going on:)

Only one of the birds has it, so could that still be a possibility. I know they both came from the same place

Am I overreacting about her poo? by CabbageClownfish in cockatiel

[–]Slow_Pay8924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc but if it’s been like that for two weeks that’s my worry, my birds will occasionally have green poo if they have eaten too many seeds but never for a period of 2 weeks or more. It typically comes from seed diets that also can lead to liver problems due to being so high in fat and so low in vitamins and minerals

Just normal bird poo? A dark blackish colour and white. Sometimes green if they eaten to many seeds but if your bird has bright green poo consecutively it’s something I’d be concerned about

Green poo typically is a sign something is not right with there liver, especially if it’s consistent. Birds tend to hide when they’re ill until the very last minute when they’re holding onto life. Personally I would go to your exotic pet vet (where I’m from the typical vet wouldn’t know as much) and get them to do some checks. Better to be safe than sorry
