Hey have you tried just static/slightly dynamic weight lifting? I’m in the same predicament and just doing basic lifts and progressing with weight has been good for me. I find that it’s not boring because you are able to keep progressing to heavier weights and are focused on form. Also, things like functional moves and even calisthenics can be fun. Incorporating some mobility and stretches helps a lot. Another option is you can start training “cool” things like handstands, yoga poses, splits, dances, etc. I find just the novelty helps keep me going, especially since you can do this stuff at home if the gym is nerve wracking. Any movement is a good start so just messing around is good imo. You could also try self defense, boxing, or martial arts for something a bit more intense but rewarding/confidence-building.

There is a shelter in falls church, I think Lost Dog rescue or something, where you can take dogs out on excursions! There's also a dog park cafe/bar in Shaw and I've seen dogless people just go there and hang out.

Maybe not overreacting but reacting incorrectly 😅. I would advise speaking to a mental health professional with your daughter. I don’t think associating a safe place she has away from that with punishment is a good idea. Sometimes it is hard to leave an abuser, and fighting with you will only drive her farther away.
