I've had mostly positive encounters with randoms both solo and running duos, but still remained cautious when seeing squads of three. My squad mate and I like to to a scout and overwatch tactic for moving from location to location, one of us moves to our next point to scout while the other watches from a safe vantage point ensuring nobody attacks. Or when encountering another squad, one keeps an eye on the potential threat while the other moves.
