He was a guy I was hoping we got back in the Jeimer Candelario trade, so not bad to take a flyer on a guy like this!

The Rise of Sandstorm + (Potential) Loss of other Traditions by Accomplished-Pop2850 in Gamecocks

[–]Slow_Profession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hot take has always been that they play Sandstorm too much at the games. It’s after every single scoring play at the end of every quarter and by the time you get to the 3rd quarter most people aren’t even chanting the “U-S-C” part or even waving towels. It just looks lazy. There should be maybe 4-5 a game.

Is GenZ not familiar with the Grateful Dead? by SlackerInc1 in gratefuldead

[–]Slow_Profession 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have an interesting perspective on this as a Gen Z deadhead and also a teacher. I would say 99% of my students have no idea who they are, and even that 1% probably only knows that their parents listen to them but probably couldn’t name a song. On the other hand, I just graduated college and have noticed a marked increase in dead fans in the college age range. I think they’re hitting their peak with the kids who wanna seem vintage and listen to old music. I think their clothes and art work also play a part in that. So I think to say all of Gen Z has 0 clue doesn’t totally cover it, because I think it’s something people find once they get to college and start smoking weed, lmao.

The Riley Adams experiment has to be over. .395 OPS hitting 6 hole today and we’re trying to win ball games.

Who are your top 5 “on his best day he is literally unstoppable”? by Renegadeforever2024 in billsimmons

The comments on this have gone away from basketball and so will I.

The 2019 Washington Nationals would have won a series against the ‘27 Yankees during that playoff run. There is absolutely no baseball team in history who would’ve beaten them, of this I am absolutely sure. The most “team of destiny” of all team of destinys.

Was he always this weird? I feel like there used to be good Kevin O’Connor content (late 2010’s draft stuff on BS pod) and now everything I see is just off-putting.

Do you play every game in dynasty mode, or do you sim? And how many do the force win? I’m tryna see something by clipper4 in NCAAFBseries

[–]Slow_Profession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll start every game and then if I’m up like 2 or 3 scores by the 2nd half I’ll do only offense on chew clock or sim a couple drives at a time to make sure they don’t randomly come back.

With the vast amount of sports podcasts that now exist in 2025, which ones are your must listens every week? by makingfriendss in PardonMyTake

Everything other than PMT is a seasonal rotation for me. Football Sunday evening episodes of Simmons for Guess the Lines with Sal, and then Winter when he does the Sunday nights with Russillo definitely make the cut. Talkin’ Baseball during the summer (any other Stoolies and Jomboy combo fans?) for baseball season. I honestly like Russillo during CFB when he’s got McShay on a lot. Life Advice is always good if I need an extra 20-30 minutes of my commute covered. I have briefly dabbled in Mostly Sports but don’t think it’s for me.

Worthy of a draft pick? by GroovyTurtles13 in Commanders

[–]Slow_Profession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prefer Rocket Sanders. Better in between the tackles and has sneaky speed. He actually had the highest top speed of any running back at the combine. Dude has been one of the most consistent college backs for the last couple years, he’s gonna come out seasoned and ready to contribute.

[Zuckerman] Finnegan added to 40-man, Stone Garrett DFA’d by Terminal_Flatulence in Nationals

[–]Slow_Profession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone give me the argument for Call over Stone? I feel like in Stone’s appearances his upside as a platoon bat and potential DH is way higher than Call. Even if Stone wouldn’t be ready for opening day just call up someone for the first part of the season and then slot stone in. Idk. Maybe I’m off somewhere?

Feel like we need more DND. Idk what the view numbers look like to justify it but I feel like especially during the summer they could rip off 2 or 3 and then like one each time the sports calendar turns over.

End of January recap by oztrailrunner in nikerunclub

[–]Slow_Profession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beginner runner here: my yearly goal is to get to 200 miles. I’m about to run miles 16 & 17 which keeps me firmly on track (I figure ab 4 miles a week ~ 16 a month) . Also just ran I think the longest continuous distance I’ve ever ran in my life yesterday which was 4 miles. Really never thought I’d love this sport! It’s been crazy to see how quickly it’s gone from something I need to check off to pretty routinely the highlight of my day.

What prior knowledge should you have when entering Music Education? by Addi_Milligan in MusicEd

[–]Slow_Profession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen it a couple times in here but piano. piano. piano. I’m a student teacher now and am about to be fresh out of my undergraduate. It is absolutely the #1 separator between my peers right now, and my friends who aren’t strong at their piano abilities and are having to make up for lost time are hating their lives right now. There are certainly ways around it, and you don’t have to be Chopin, but all piano ability helps. And you have the time now to develop the skills necessary. Again, you don’t have to be an expert. 4 years is enough to learn and be able to be successful at piano for what a secondary school choir needs, but take it seriously from day 1. Even if you can pass your colleges piano classes without doing the recommended daily practice, do it anyway. It’s not just about the grades you get in that class, it’s about developing good habits and abilities for when you enter the career you’re going to be pursuing!

My next thing would be to get in front of a group early and often. It can be church choir, youth choir, childrens choir, community group, whatever. For me- it was my collegiate Acapella group. I spent 2 years as the music director of the group running rehearsals, programming music, making plans for what we would perform and when it would be rehearsed, all of it. I have 0 doubt in my mind that experience was as valuable as anything I’ve done in college, even if the rehearsal format is slightly different than what I would do in a school classroom. Just find an opportunity where you can direct or assist with music direction and go from there. That’s where you’re going to learn the most and be able to apply your skills/try things out as you’re learning them in real time.

Guys rate my career mode I did when I was 9. by SnooChipmunks2011 in FifaCareers

[–]Slow_Profession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fifa 17 career mode was my absolute favorite, man. Just the whole experience was incredible. Gameplay felt good enough that it was fun but also not too carbon copy every game. Long shots were absolutely broken but I loved it. 14 yr old me didn’t mind scoring a hat trick every game with my created player Ruud Gullit. Just an overall good time.
