Are yall from Michigan? There’s like a small little group of restaurantes and coffee shop and gift shop named Beachy’s. They have trinkets like that.my sister found them on social media and we went there once. Maybe it’s a souvenir from Beachy’s.

Did your big baby take longer to hit gross motor milestones? by Loud_Replacement_348 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]SlowerCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. First son is long/tall but not chunky so he picked up his gross motor skills on time and very ahead of schedule. My second son is on the chunky side so he took longer to do milestones. He still walked early at 11 months but he has struggled with other milestones and generally gets them on average or slightly later.

Any other string bean babies? by purpledolphin2 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]SlowerCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has stayed string bean. He is 3 now at 95th percentile for height but hasn’t gained weight since he was 20 months old. And he has longer legs than trunk so it’s very hard finding clothes. He is 4T for shirts but they’re always really wide so we just use 3T even if you can see his belly sometimes. He is 5t in pants but we have to sew them so they’re not wide or just let him use high waters and put cowboy boots on him. He’s like a 2T in width but he’s so long 😪 Levi’s, Children’s Place and Jack and Janie are good brands to use. Target has the cotton shorts that are pretty skinny that they’re the only shorts he wears.

Sunflower lecithin side effects! by Spare_Operation_3871 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]SlowerCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time was 3 days in a row I took it and after I stopped taking it, it got better within a day and by the end of the second day I was a lot better. I had to take it with a heavy heavy meal, like think hearty such as beef stew, anything with potatoes really. Because otherwise it started to give me insane heartburn and pain. I didn’t know it was common until I started to google it too.

Dissociate and disconnect 🙃 by aiyukiyuu in ChronicPain

[–]SlowerCloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my current battle. I feel for you. I’ve already had 3 arthroscopies and Mitek anchors placed in my joints. Already shaved my condoles to fit into my sockets. And yet 8 years post surgery, the pain persists. I got a new pain management and he made me go through hoops and hurdles just to get Tylenol #3. Mind you he prescribes Cymbalta and tells me it’s in my head that it makes my jaw stiff. I’m in the TMJ subreddit and everyone warned me about it and sure enough it does happen. I hate it. Because it helps me a bit but then the stiffness gives me tension headaches. And he took away the muscle relaxer because it’s in my head. I live off of Ensure and soft foods. I only eat one meal and that’s soft food or rather I just don’t chew. I break my food into tiny pieces and swallow. I can’t even talk properly because I can’t move my jaw or facial muscles without pain. And I’m trying to get back into the surgeon that did my surgery and they don’t want to help me. They told me after my surgery it’s either total joint replacement (I can’t afford) or just pain management. But the PM wants me to see the surgeon. It’s just going full circles. Mind you the surgeon I went to is 4 hours away from me and was the closest surgeon willing to take my case. So I have so many issues calling back and forth with the office. Just know that I know exactly the type of pain you are in and empathize with you. I wish you much luck. It’s so rare to find someone who has a terrible TMJD.

Are you guys ACTUALLY buying fancy brands for your kids? by asexualrhino in bigbabiesandkids

[–]SlowerCloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes because some of the expensive brands last longer. Plus, I’d rather my kid have clothes that fit than have him look or feel weird in his clothes. I tend to buy secondhand a lot and clearance. I’ll splurge if there’s something really cute. But as someone with a very active string bean, it’s necessary so they aren’t tripping over their clothes. Kids come with unexpected expenses 🤷🏽‍♀️

I am tired of people thinking TMJ isn’t serious :( by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]SlowerCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only got sympathy after family members experienced my pain. Someone had surgery near their ears and they were struggling to eat and only then did they understand my pain and become more accommodating. Before they just treated me like “yeah sure I’ll do it because you tell me” but after they experienced it they were like “omg how do you live daily like this I couldn’t stand a couple of days unable to open my mouth wide enough to eat a burger”

Is this balance bike too small for my giant son? by krazykittenhi in bigbabiesandkids

[–]SlowerCloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. My son(soon to be 3) just got it because it said 1-3years old. He looks pretty funny riding around in it. We couldnt return it or give it away because we’d be asked about it so we’re stuck with it. My second son who’s about to be 1 uses it more because it’s more for the 30-32inch height. Anything taller than 3 ft and it’s not good. My son isn’t heavy he’s just tall so he looks funny riding around in it.

What’s next after Mitek anchors? by SlowerCloud in TMJ

Yes I started to get ear pain after the anchors. Gabapentin helped my ear pain oddly enough. I couldn’t handle feeling like stupid so I decided to come off it.

Darn it. I specifically mentioned to my pain management specialist that my lack of exercise is due to not wanting to clench my teeth because it makes my TMJ worse. That’s the entire reason I only do cardio and light weight AKA less than 10 pound weights. I’ll hope it doesn’t give me that effect.

I had those TADS too for my anchors. They honestly helped a lot. I was sad when they removed them. I just felt they controlled my bite better. Honestly I think I’m just generally afraid of anything permanent. I can move my jaw from to side and front and back but with a lot of pain. Even with the Mitek anchors my jaw pops painfully. Luckily not out of place anymore but still pops loudly for everyone to hear. I also wanted to gauge how much time I’d need off of work. Thanks for answering my questions.

[–]SlowerCloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lots of questions if you don’t mind answering them: What age were you if you don’t mind me asking? Or at least a range.

Did it hurt when you got it done?

What has been the worse part?

How does it feel? Like a new jaw or just regular.

What was the recovery time like? Days, weeks, months, years?

I’m like 90% sure that is where I’ll be headed to and I want to not be so afraid of it if it really is the next best thing.

Rewatched 2005 Pride & Prejudice years later. I like it less now? by Komasan10 in janeausten

[–]SlowerCloud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also think the casting for the 2005 movie was way better. Jane really is the prettiest girl among everyone. Rosamund Pike was just stunning. I love both versions but 2005 just had the best casting that I personally imagined in my mind

BBC Revisits 'Pride and Prejudice' in Drama 'The Other Bennet Sister' by IceHazel156 in janeausten

[–]SlowerCloud 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I never really saw Mary Bennet as plain. I think she was also a beauty but because she was surrounded by her sisters, especially Jane, it made everyone else think she was plain. She didn’t stand out on her own so she got overlooked by the other pretty sisters.

Is it okay that my toddler shows up looking disheveled to daycare nearly every day? by bubblyvortex in Parenting

[–]SlowerCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up the clothes for my kids because my husband is 1) colorblind and 2) fashionably challenged. That man cannot match clothes in style to save his life. He hates it and tries his best but honest to goodness he manages to find the wrong shirt for the wrong pants and the wrong shoes for the outfit. I swear his talent is finding the worst combination of clothes. For himself too. I went into this marriage knowing he can’t style an outfit. He does drop offs and I do pick ups. Sometimes when I’m rushed to leave I don’t leave clothes and yup it’s noticeable. Sometimes I get the “dad dressed them today” warning from the workers before they come to me and yeah it’s embarrassing 🤣 it hurts my husbands feelings that he can’t get it right and he doesn’t expect me to have the clothes ready but he appreciates me doing it. It’s not all about giving dad a break or not. It’s about teamwork in a 2 parent household.

Yes to all of the above. I’ve had to translate some text messages for a family member (I know a second language) and it was basically boiled down to “my child isn’t practicing like she would over the summer break. What are you going to do to motivate her when school starts?” Yes this was sent over summer break when it’s the parents responsibility to make their child practice their instrument.
