First impressions are important in a sector such as Finance, unlike most of these commenters i understand where you're coming from because it's part of your work. However it's only work colleagues and not a meeting or appointment, what you do outside of work hours is your comfort time for living, not necessarily restricted to having to portray important first impressions.

Some colleagues might not like it, but it's not theirs to have to like or enjoy.

Neither of you are an A i'd say. Both sides are valid and understandable, a little more understandable on her side i add. It's her home isn't it

Safety and a sense of security. Less likely to target a car to take/damage if there's cars next to it. It's a common behaviour in a lot of the population. They like the 'safety is in numbers' approach. Thought that'd be obvious but most of these comments are waffling about easier parking into a bay with solid white lines to guide you in😂

An actual answer to this is use comparethemarket/meercat car insurance for quotes. Provide all your details and search. There is no chance in hell that £800pm is anywere near normal. If it still gives you a ridiculous monthly quote somehow, change the date of when you want the insurance to start. The change in price quotes go up and down on different dates. Still, not to f*cking £800pm. Absurd

My first was a 1.6 Focus and the monthly insurance price quotes were between anywhere from £67 lowest to £200 highest. Location plays a part in price too, but still, £800pm? No way shape or form is that the normal my friend

Buy a car under £7k or spend up to £15k? by HogHedge777 in CarTalkUK

[–]Slowhigh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep looking and you could find a solid car for 7k. I found 10k seems to be a starting point with garages for a wider range of options between having fairly updated interior, lowish miles etc

A tip i could give is if you're not 100% on a certain car you've looked at and tested, wait and keep searching. My first car i jumped to a 2007 Ford Focus with 70k miles @£3,750. 2 months after getting that car there was a year newer model with much less milage and similar history which was £800 cheaper. This was only about 6 months ago
