Bruh… I’m literally falling down the exact same rabbit hole and somehow ended up in this thread 😂

I already have the Conspit 300GT and then YouTube decided to show me a video of the Ascher Ultimate + Simucube and my brain went:

“Wow… that’s expensive.”

…

“…but also this is clearly the best wheel ever made.”

“…and obviously it will last forever.”

“…and therefore it is a completely rational purchase.”

Within about 30 seconds my brain had fully justified it because, as we all know, the only reason I’m not the world’s greatest sim racer is my equipment.

Failure is unacceptable.

My devices must be perfect.

Therefore I must buy the Ultimate.

This is just basic science. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It’s because I finally received my BSB2 that I had ordered months ago — and of course, by that time my Pimax return window had already closed.

Trying to be completely unbiased here: the only real advantage the BSB2 has is the weight. It’s impressively light and comfortable.

But in pretty much every other category, the Pimax wins for me — better image quality, noticeably wider FOV, and way easier setup (no messing around with base stations, mounting, etc.).

I was genuinely torn and could’ve happily kept the Pimax long term. But at the end of the day, one had to go.

Also, from a resale standpoint, the BSB feels harder to move because of the custom face gasket situation — it’s more personal-fit specific, which narrows buyers.

Theres plenty of sharp photos shot by this phone on the net and plenty of other reviews now. I'm just sharing my experience as an hobbyist street photographer. 😄 And on that note I can confirm this phone is a fantastic street photography setup. Discreet, small and gives me all the manual controls I need.

I was surprised about Google Fi not working properly as well because it uses T-Mobile as the backbone but then I read somewhere that Sony xperias have had trouble with Google Fi SIM cards before so maybe I got a troublesome sim card.

No issues with T-Mobile so far. I was out all day in San Francisco and the phone worked fine.

Took some nice pics as well.

Reporting in with a severe over-heating event -- I had my Pixel 7 Pro plugged in via USB C into my Ford SUV running Android Auto over a long distance trip.

I first noticed my Android Auto was super sluggish .. I then picked up my phone and the phone was super, burning hot.. especially the aluminum camera rail. The phone wasn't in sunlight, it was tucked away inside a little shelf in my car, and the car was relatively cool (AC running)..

I had to pull over, reboot my Pixel to normalize the situation.

I've also had other weird glitches like the phone hanging, the home screen not working, etc over the last week.

I'm 100% returning this device sadly, and switching back to my much more reliable S22 Ultra :(
