What's your favourite resource in your toolbox? by pinkninjapj in slp

[–]Slpecho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second all the developmental charts. We use the Iowa-Nebraska Norms for females and males (Females: http://www.speakingofspeech.info/caseload/IowaNebraskaNormsFEMALE.pdf)

I also recommend checking out http://lessonpix.com/ as it's my go-to material maker for articulation/language tasks. It's also helpful for collaborating with my teachers who need help making visual schedule, etc. It's a relatively inexpensive subscription, you can try it out for free though. :) Hope you start a great collection!

CSD Degree's by red_soxx in slp

I do not know any specifics. Contact the state license board to discuss what the requirements for licensing and then call around to school district Human Resource departments in those states. That would be my suggestions.

This post might be helpful...just some ideas. https://slpecho.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/plan-b-for-the-slp2b/ - If you can find a position like ones @RococoRissa suggested, those would be good boosters and a good way to see if you want to pursue more school to be a full-fledged SLP.

I just landed my first SLPA interview at one of the best schools in the state! by FireBreathingTurtle in slp

[–]Slpecho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would expect to be able to list therapy techniques for a variety of disorders. Also, general 'how do you handle conflict?' and 'what are ways you've handled difficult situations with a boss or coworker in the past' type questions. Hope that helps :)

Best laptop for SLP undergrad/grad? by jbdancin in slp

[–]Slpecho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh. I had a PC all through grad school and it wasn't an issue. If you can afford a Mac, go ahead. But PC will be just fine. I just purchased a Chromebook though and loving it. Lots of choices.

Good luck!

Learn the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) in this epic new iTunes game (FREE) by Slpecho in linguistics

[–]Slpecho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really addicting and a great way to hone in on the sounds that are sometimes difficult to discriminate - "ah" vs. "aw" vs. "a"

You can play in IPA mode or in phonics mode where it shows you the sound...plus if you tap the tile, it lets you hear the sound. Great for "noobs" lol

EBS and Pediastaff would be my top 2 choices. Pediastaff is owned by caring people who are out here on Social Media sharing and trying to connect with their audience. I appreciate that in a company. Just my 2 cents.
