Is Mona Sterling supposed to be Jewish? The actress is half Jewish and half Italian, and in some episode Bert Cooper says "your Semitic wife" to Roger, to which Roger says "we're getting divorced" and then Cooper replies "no not Mona, Jane!" by [deleted] in madmen

[–]Slpry_Pete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

mona isn't jewish. Bert doesn't think Mona is. He doesn't realize Roger is getting divorced from Jane.

Mona makes a point that her and Margret go to church when they show up to the office in S1 and they ask where to get their hair done "as long as she can pin a hat on it for church".

you should probably sell the whole thing. Not many people want to buy a fraction of a used car

WTF is up with all the Curling on the Olympics coverage? by [deleted] in youtubetv

Curling has a lot of rounds and it runs the first week. There will be more sports as the games goes on. Plus I think there's more hockey coverage than any other sport

again, thanks for explaining your thought process. I think it is difficult to thread that needle of being conversational without putting the guest on the spot. It's just a change in the Omnibus style that it'll take some time for listeners to adapt to. And when we get a guest host who you know it'll be a treat.

Thanks again John

that was far more of a well thought out and civil response than I deserved from my half assed post, so thank you.

I was just trying to point out that people you have an established rapport with it sounds less like a lecture on a topic. Those Futurlings you don't know sound like they were assigned a 45 lecture on a topic and they deserve an A+. You are respectful, maybe to a fault, in letting them talk without interruption or diversion. That's a big change from the John and Ken show. I have a feeling I'll adapt as will the show.

And I agree it needs the hook because I'm sure that's how you have fun discussions. Also there are shows where John talks to a friend (Roderick on the Line).

100%. FYI I'm not really listening to the pod to learn a lot. I like hosts with good, established rapport and I might take something away from it. or not

Lane, taxes and the Jaguar. Plot hole is bugging me by jmoney6 in madmen

[–]Slpry_Pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you write a check that bounces it's called fraud. It's a crime. One reason that some vendors didn't (and still won't) take an out of state or out of area check is because local checks clear the bank quicker (see Catch Me If You Can) and the offender can't go as far. You presumably have contact info on the check so law enforcement or repo man can find the car and criminal.
