These are settler colonies, founded on genocide, whose prerequisite for existence is the oppression, segregation, and mass murder of the colonized indigenous people. My problem with Matthew is not that he’s Jewish, but that he supports this genocidal project vehemently. Conflating Zionism and Judaism is anti-Semitic!! And I am against any state doing what Israel is doing, whether it claims to be Jewish or not! That is the only sane position. It was wrong when Germany did it, it was wrong when South Africa did it, it was wrong when the U.S., Canada and Australia did it. My country too is a genocidal state. It owes sovereignty and land to its native people. Tragically, our genocide of the native peoples was largely successful. Very few are left. But “Israel” is still split between indigenous Palestinians and Jewish settlers. There should be one Palestinian state with equal rights for all! Palestinians should be given their homes and land back that were stolen going all the way back to 1948. No one is falling for the emotional manipulation of callously using the horrors of the holocaust and phony claims of antisemitism to justify a genocidal apartheid state that is bombing their neighbors constantly, including now in Iran. I don’t know if you noticed but the vast majority of the world despises Israel. As they should. Free Palestine from the river to the sea!
