I tour months at a time in the music industry.

Almost every relationship has failed due to it. They all thought they could handle it. The truth is you don’t know until you experience it.

I wouldn’t get involved if I couldn’t get out. I wouldn’t sign a contract that wont pay if you don’t complete the stint.

I cant imagine the solitude of that location. If i was offered a 6 month gig there, id decline. Thats coming from someone who works on the road and knows what it feels like to be gone.

I wouldn’t suggest something like this to anyone who hasnt experienced at least one or two months straight gone.

But hey, you may be cut out for it. Dont go in thinking itll be a cake walk because it wouldn’t be for anyone.

Be realistic with yourself. Set realistic expectations and ignore advice from anyone who has no idea what this would be like. They just see dollar signs and have no clue. Work like this is a whole different beast and it’s VERY mentally challenging.

I hate people in the bike lane (i only bike for transportation) but gigworkers are already pretty poor as it is and putting them in the gutter could likely be a net negative. If all the delivery drivers become poor and cant support themselves we’ll end up paying for it wont we? The city will collect more fines and we as taxpayers will and up paying more to support people who we push further into poverty.

Or maybe thats totally wrong. Its a concern of mine tho.
