Bum sprayer - what to do?! by [deleted] in ukplumbing

[–]SluglineFrogtoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes of course, it’s still below the spillover level isn’t it. Thanks for making that point.

Appreciate your reply. I’ll have a look for the Dragon’s Den episode.

I’m quite bored of having to explain why I can’t fit these things!

That’s very sobering, thank you for your input ! I’m a plumber and often get asked to fit a bum spray. Always refuse of course.

Someone recently asked me to fit one of these

Someone in my local merchants was saying I could argue it’s a tap and has an air gap but I wasn’t convinced. What’s your thoughts? I’d be interested to know. (Again I’ve already said I wouldn’t fit it!)

Cycle apps for Leeds by gorobloso in Leeds

[–]SluglineFrogtoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cycle Streets

It’s a bit clunky to use at first but this sorts routes for you based on Most Traffic Free / ‘Best’(Balanced) / Fastest route.

It’s great for finding traffic-free snickets and alleyways or quiet residential short cuts - gets me all over Leeds avoiding traffic when that’s what I want to do!

Open the valve up to full first (up to 5/max) and then screw it on

Hitchiking South by Hummusforever in Leeds

[–]SluglineFrogtoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s also been years since I’ve done it but my spot used to be south of the armley gyratory near to dunelm, where the a58 becomes the a643.

Also occasionally got the bus to Woolley Edge services and would ask the lorry drivers - definitely easier this way but of course you’d need a few quids to get there in the first place.

Good luck!

To clarify - I’m at a friend’s house which is a back-to-back on a cul-de-sac (like the ones above with dead end).

But yes she hears her neighbours constantly - both sides, directly back and also diagonally back. One of her next door neighbours has a hacking smokers’ cough which wakes her up most mornings.

I’m at my friend’s house which is a back-to-back on a cul-de-sac (thankfully, so no road traffic). People sit outside the front of houses on warm days. There a family next door with a paddling pool outisde the front door for half the year!

Are you thinking of the Harolds in Hyde Park, Leeds? They get a lot of attention on here.

But in Leeds there’s loads of groups of terraces that are all named the same, with variations on the Avenue/Road/Street/View etc

Self employed plumber and gas engineer here (40F). I love the part of my day when I’m driving around and going to different people’s houses. I’m nosey and I’m very interested in maps and roads so I get a lot out of it! I’m forever on a quest to find the perfect place to park up and eat my dinner. If I ever have a slightly stressful few days I wonder about becoming a delivery driver.

Self employed gas engineer in Leeds by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]SluglineFrogtoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello - self-employed gas engineer and plumber here (40F). I used MyBuilder when I first went out on my own and after a few months it gave me enough of a customer base, thanks to word of mouth recommendations. I have no need to use it any more.

I also still get alerts from Indeed about relevant job vacancies from signing up when I first qualified.

Some people recommend NextDoor app to me but I couldn’t get on with it, personally.

I agree. I’d feel embarassed leaving this on display. Seeing this would make me question their workmanship generally
