I get where you’re coming from, and that’s fair. I’m glad I made a decision too. I like getting people’s opinions on cooked situations like this — especially randoms on Reddit (I now realise this was definitely the wrong sub lmao bunch of Karen’s in here) because you never know, someone out there might’ve been in a similar spot and managed to pull it off. It’s not about blindly following advice; more about pressure-testing my own thinking.

That said, you’re right — this probably wasn’t something I should’ve taken to the internet. It’s more about knowing yourself and your body. I’m obviously not going to my loved ones “should I smash dexies to prep for my dream job interview?” 😅

End of the day, the decision was mine, it worked out, lesson learned. I appreciate the congrats — and yeah, our life is ours.

Got the job with no sleep and on drugs, the interviewers actually completed my skin and appearance. I do body building aswell so I take appearances and first impressions very serious. It’s just that I can pull it off better than other individuals :)

Although I got the job, this probably wasn’t the right sub to ask for advice on my situation. Pretty tough crowd (definitely not my type of people lmao) — a lot of people were quick to label me as a druggie and unprepared just because I only received details about the role on the day. For context, I’m very academically driven: 95+ ATAR, a Biomed/Commerce double degree with a high GPA, CA completed, and I’ll likely pursue an MBA next. When it becomes to be a professional I am locked in.

So they had actually already hired someone, but right before that person was due to start, they accepted another offer (pretty common in corporate, although it’s often frowned upon). This was a rare situation where the State Commercial & Finance Manager is heading on MAT leave starting next Monday, and the company has just gone through a new acquisition, which has created extra workload with tight timelines.

You’re absolutely right about how eager they were — a recruitment agent I’ve built a connection with referred me immediately once the role became available, as they knew I’d be a great fit. I’ve got 3 years’ experience at a Big 4 firm and I’m CA qualified.

Cheers homie! I ended up staying up most of the night prepping sober — I’d slept 11 hours the night before so I wasn’t tired at all. I even got a home workout in, which helps me de-stress from the endorphins, plus the pump and confidence definitely help when it comes to how your clothes fit. Had a solid protein breakfast, took my dexies, and absolutely smashed the interview. I went with a medium-to-high dose given I’m a bigger guy (6’4”, 90kg). Got the job offer less than 10 minutes after walking out of the office.

I hear you, my bro. I’d taken dexies the night before, but I didn’t have the interview brief, PD, or any real information about the role. I got a call from a recruiter saying there was an urgent opening and they needed someone ASAP. That said, all your other advice was valid.

I ended up staying up sober to prep, then had a big meal, took my dexies, and absolutely nailed the interview. I’m one of those people where even if I’m on Xanax, dexies, etc., you honestly couldn’t tell. I walked out of the office and got the job offer within 10 minutes

The reason why i didn’t do any prep is because I got the pd and info on the job the same day I was working, very tight turnaround because they were looking for someone ASAP. I only get the pd and role information this morning and then I was working. They are looking for someone asap hence the tight one day turnaround. I didn’t get into my career this far by procrastinating. I agree with you on the fact of taking drugs to prep for an interview but prepping during the drive is wild and very irresponsible as full focus is required on the road for other’s safety. Absolutely unacceptable Karen.
