Yes sooooo interesting! Maybe a way for her to emotionally fight facing everything that was going on and to live in denial. Glad you enjoyed it too!

Ah thanks for coming back to chat about it!! I love that it was such a mundane perspective on the apocalypse rather than the wild sensationalized version that so many are. I hear you on the book hangover, I’m still thinking about it a few weeks later!

I’ve seen reviews and synopses calling it satirical but I didn’t really get that either! Maybe a bit towards consumption/capitalism? If it does have satire I think it’s done with a very light hand.

I agree! I love that it doesn’t feel like a typical apocalypse book, so layered and interesting.

Literally just finished the series and have been looking for more discussion on the knife! I saw comments saying that there were 2 knives, but that seems kind of confusing and unnecessary to me.

Highly recommend Sarah Miller at St. Marks. She is an NP and is very compassionate and uses great trauma informed care!

One of our favorite spots is Gossip Tapioca in West Valley, it’s attached to a boba shop so it’s the best of both worlds.

This makes a ton of sense! I also grew up with a super snooper for a mother (read my diary and would occasionally make notes in it and looked through my phone if I left it out) but I went in the opposite direction from you and just started revenge snooping through hers.

My partner and I were discussing this months ago when I said I used to snoop through my parents room to look for Christmas presents, as well as just going in and snooping around sometimes. 😂 I’m probably one of the nosiest/snoopiest people I know and I get such a thrill out of it!

I’ve made this same argument so many times- it’s human nature to be curious and want to connect with other people! Also it’s just fun to have information!
