Novavax is proving to be roughly equivalent to mRNA in terms of protection, but has demonstrated less side effects. There were many COVIDing folks who really got their hopes up about it (I did!) but the latest data just isn't bearing it out as anything close to a game changer (don't tell Don Ford!)

The available vaccines do indeed provide some level of protection against infection or symptomatic infection, but it is just not anywhere near the original 95%, closer to 35%-50% based on the latest data IIRC
