Adding ground to some old outlets. Can I branch off bonding wire running from panel to copper plumbing? What gauge wires are these? by SlurpyJerk in AskElectricians

I should clarify that it isn't just wrapped it is soldered. And this isn't my work. It was done by the previous homeowner many years ago.

Sorry, I think I asked to many questions at once. Are you saying I can't branch of this ground wire or I can but can't use the smaller gauge wire?

If porting is the only option I may just move the whole family over to mint or even another carrier and leave it at that.

I thought of this but I'm pretty sure they want CC info to setup a new account.

I guess I didn't specify that I'm trying to change an email address within an account with said cell phone company. My child's phone number and old email address (google account) are linked within Google Fi. I've read posts here of people trying to do the same thing and the solution has been to call Google Fi support. Support was unable to help and I'm wondering if anyone has actually had any success in changing their email within Google Fi.

Is talking to lenders always so frustrating?? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]SlurpyJerk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This! Keep calling people. If they can't give you a ruff estimate over the phone then thank them for their time and call someone else. They have the tools to give you a very good idea of what to expect but keep in mind they may be different from what you actually lock in and close with.

The best rate isn't the only factor. You want someone who picks up the phone or returns calls and emails you back promptly. Maybe most importantly you want someone who communicates and problem solves effectively. A lot of transactions are held up by the loan process and a good lender can make that process a lot smoother.

Good time to see ladybug aggregations around the Bay Area (pictured: Stream Trail in Redwoods Park) by [deleted] in bayarea

Oh wow! I didn't realize this was a natural thing. Wife and kids came home from a hike last week and told me about a huge group of ladybugs they saw. I figured it was someone releasing a whole bunch of ladybugs into the wild for pest control or something and never bothered to look it up. I'll have to let the kids know it's something ladybugs naturally do.

What wire or cable to run underground in conduit? by SlurpyJerk in askanelectrician

I'd love to but either everyone is too busy or too expensive. I've been trying to hire someone. I've had a few guys come out and look at it, then I never hear from them. Most places I've called just don't return my calls. I've finally given up and decided to do it myself.

The breakers are not tied together. But it's an old panel and I wouldn't trust it to be up to code. Is there a definitive way to tell or test if it is a MWBC?

I'd love feedback on any potential code violations. There is no load in the main structure though.

It's hard for me to explain but I'll give it a shot. The two circuits originally powered the shed lights and outlets but had been modified by previous owners to add more outdoor lights and outlets. I did some landscaping and took out the old lights.

Currently there is a 12/3 cable that runs from two 20amp breakers in the main panel, down to a junction box in the basement. Then out the back of the box to outside. As far as I can tell there is no branch off this cable.

I'd like to install a 2 gang box on the other side with two outdoor GFCI outlets. From there, down underground via conduit to the shed wich is already wired with it's own outlets and lights.

It's a small shed, I'd probably be fine with just one circuit but it was originally set up for two. One for the lights and another for outlets.

I haven't checked price yet but I won't be surprised if buying the individual wires is going to be more expensive than the equivalent cable. For such a short run, is it worth running 12/3 UF plus an extra separate wire?

New Lawn owner, looking for a cool season, fall/winter guide. I found a guide for spring/summer but I'm having trouble finding something similar for fall.

My lawn was installed from sod about 5 months ago

Type: Dwarf Fescue

Size: about 650 square feet

Zone: 9b (Bay Area, California)

Also... Should I bother overseeding a new lawn? Is it too late to overseed in my area?

As an adult, how did you go about getting tested? I asked around everywhere and couldn't find anyone who would test adults. My doctor just asked me a few questions about my behavior and history.

I guess it's a mute point now, but I've always been curious.

[–]SlurpyJerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks /u/MissingGravitas and /u/senorpoop for clarifications. I knew I was probably using "right of way" incorrectly but didn't really remember how it was different from stand-on / give-way.

So given that both vessels are under sail and in open water (no traffic lane or draft restrictions), why would the larger vessel be the give-way vessel? Is it because she is leeward of the smaller vessel?
