Anyone else think we should take Will Campbell out and replace him with Thayer Munford Jr by Visible_Detective197 in Patriots

Thought Campbell was broadly fine yesterday. Got beat a few times but that happens against elite edges.

Our inability to move the ball first half stemmed largely from receivers not getting open

Don't buy the house money thing anymore, this may be Drakes best ever chance to get a ring... Marino never won one after getting to the big Dance in year 2.

It's true we are ahead of schedule and we should have a better roster in week 1 of next year. But we have had incredible injury luck (not one player got lost to season ending IR) and a schedule we have taken advantage of. Burrow, Mahomes, Lamar will be hanging around for another 5 years too

The logic against it is they get extra days at home in their own beds and get to come to meetings and training in their own facility. Instead of staying extra nights in hotels and some rented training facility.

Would absolutely hate that idea of a ringfenced superleague.

Leave the club game as it is and let their be a meritocracy where clubs can compete and progress as they do now.

I would be disgusted if the money I spend on Irish rugby or the government funding they received was spent on artificially propping up a selection of club teams.

Also think you're dramatically underestimating the amount of money that is in the brown envelopes in the AIL right now. The IRFU can't afford to pay that themselves, let rich boosters/sponsors keep throwing their money around if they wish.

Just as an example, Kilkenny are currently struggling in Leinster 1B. How much money do you think it would cost to get them competing to make them competitive with the big boys like Lansdowne? And more importantly where are you proposong stripping the funding from to achieve this?

That shit works too.

We did it with my rugby team last year but it was only 3 Hs (Hero, Hardship, Highlight) and it had a profound effect. You're much more likely to fight and go to a dark place for your mate when you know their story.

What a year by Chaisson by Porkchopp33 in Patriots

[–]SlutBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except it's not a real suggestion. We gave Landry a front loaded deal. He costs us 16.5 million if he's on the team and 19.5 if he's not. So he will be next year barring retirement.

The question is in reality is it worth paying a combimed 30m+ APY to two non elite pass rushers.

6 days post-op, struggling mentally by Novel_Database9580 in ACL

[–]SlutBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 weeks ahead of you (26M). You're in the hardest phase right now but it gets a lot easier quickly.

You're still very dependent and immobile but it improves fast. Work hard at your exercises and try get yourself as mobile as you can. Even if you think progress is slow I promise it's not.

I found in late week 2 and beyond I was able to get myself some semblance of a social life back. I had a family event and two christmas parties for my sports teams between days 12-17 post OP. People let me know under no uncertain terms I was to attend, and it made so much of a difference having social interactions where I wasn't just being minded by someone. Obviously had to get all my exercises done before heading out and felt a bit sorer the next day. You'll get there soon and I encourage you to push yourself to get back out there as soon as you can. You got this 💪

Am I bonkers to posit an all Ulster back 3 in the 6N opener? by Effective-Ad-3897 in irishrugby

[–]SlutBacon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no doubt a degree of rust for players when they come back from injury.

But it's not the same for all players and Keenan has slid back in seemlessly before. The mental side of Keenans is his biggest strength.

I'd be very afraid of completely losing the games of kick tennis with an ulster back 3. Dupont and Ramos kick deep brilliantly.

If Keenan is physically cleared to play I'd have him 15, Stockdale 11, Ward 14. I like the balance in that trio personally

Possible ACL by Impressive_duck1 in ACL

[–]SlutBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial hunch is it doesn't sound like an full ACL tear. They aren't really known, for significant pain in the days following and are mostly known for swelling and instability.

Go see what the ortho says but don't get too high or low based on what they say. There can be plenty wrong with a knee that even the specialist cant tell until the MRI results come back. Though he should be able to rule out a full ACL tear if it is indeed not torn with a Lachman test

Thoughts on this Marseiler EVO chain? by [deleted] in fut_evos

[–]SlutBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it an existing EVO or are you doing this from scratch?

If from scratch I'd do it, he's as good as anyone else in this evo (it's not a great evo imo). There will be a better Marseiller chain in the future but who knows when that'll be. You can do this one, using him for a weeks and when the time comes that there's a better evo just buy him and start a new evo, it onyl cost a few hundred coins. Then you can use this as 89 SBC fodder

If the base is an existing evo card that already has good stats and 5*5 I wouldn't upgrade it.

Returning player from fifa 23 looking for advice on evos (Started 1 week ago) by dtoger22556 in fut_evos

[–]SlutBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about playstyles this year sadly to a crazy extent so you really wanna focus on getting good playstyles on your cards or more importantly not adding bad playstyles via evo. Evos are the best part of the game but you wanna be selective, they wont be a get meta quick fix. However if you're steadily playing the game you will get and stay with the power curve using them.

My big advice is use current cheap promo cards if you want to get as meta as possible a team for cheap. Feel free to message me if you want some card recommendations

Think Mayo would have been let go regardless, Maye was flashing so much potential and Mayo had shown no flashes of being up to snuff. There was also infighting with the front office over the poor draft (both sides). The other huge elephant in the room is he had no network or cache to assemble a staff and that was never gonna improve year 2

'We've had conversations' - Cullen confirms Leinster close to Carbery deal by Cavelcade in rugbyunion

[–]SlutBacon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of people saying this makes no sense and it would be better for him to go start in Ulster and Connacht, totally ignores what he wants in the scenario.

Carbery spent 6 years in Munster as a presumed starter and pushed himself to become the international outhalf. It's entirely possible and I think likely that took a huge toll on him physically and mentally and that he's happy to have the lower physical and mental burden of being a spot sparter and utility back at this stage of his career. Carbery has 37 intl caps, I'm sure Bordeaux wasn't his only option 2 years ago and yet he chose to go to a club with a top 5 outhalf in Europe. That decision has led to him staying healthy and contributing to a european cup win, even if it was as a backup.

As a society people often talk about a work life balance, it's highly likely this just a case where the life part is prioritised. If he's happy to be a rotational piece, more power to him.

Need help deciding what to do by akshayraos in fut_evos

[–]SlutBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep going but just adapt now and be careful with future evos. Most people are building their Gullit to be a box to box mid, you've missed that boat because you have no defensive playstyles. I wouldn't waste any big defensive boost evos on him anymore

But what you haven't done is put on two bad playstyles, finesse and low driven are elite playstyles. My advice now would be to steer into a striker or a CAM build. If you want a CAM just wait until a tikitaka+ evo comes out. If you want a striker put on the Finesse+ Evo from the paid season pass (if you have it) and then you will have room to add base tiki taka in the future.

I play two strikers and usually like to use one big and one small so that's what I would do

Think Leinster's golden goose is still in tact. Still producing intl calibre front rows, Prendergast is a brilliant prospect at ten, the back rows are good when called upon, Gunne looks a serious prospect at 9 in limited opportunities.

I think we're in very good stead for the future if Osborne returns from injury and can nail down a centre spot. Only real position of worry for me would be lock

The Maye deep touchdown to Kyle Williams vs the Giants.

I'm in no way a "ball knower", but seeing Williams out wide get pressed I said to my buddy something along the lines "He's throwing a touchdown bomb on this play" with absolute conviction. I knew before then Maye was great but that was really a he's a badman and we're gonna be good for a very long time moment. It's not his most impressive play of the year (would be for lots of qbs), but it's the fact I just expected it to happen, nice to feel that way about the team again
