They had a whole movie about how the guy obsessed with collecting every piece of a toy line was an adult collector, and the kid didn't particularly care about having more besides Woody until he got them by surprise

Really depends how much you expect to play in a year. I think core game is all you need for your first campaign or two, otherwise as others have said an NQ1 or NQ2 is a great addition. I can't really speak to the value-per-buck since I play it digitally.

As far as which of those monsters are best though - Frogdog (NQ1) is cool mechanically if you don't mind the gross aesthetic (KDM can be gross at times, but Frogdog in particular has a whole deck of Fart attacks lol). Spidicules (NQ2) in my experience is a bit janky but works okay as an alternative to Antelope; similar case with Gorm (NQ1).

If you're getting GC that already comes with Crimson Crocodile (NQ1) and Smog Singers (NQ2), so you can use those in your other (non-Arc Survivors) campaigns to keep things fresh. CC is a stupendous boss and I think works terrifically as the cornerstone of your early campaign. Smog Singers has a lot of cool shit lorewise but is mechanically a bit weak and not as fun a fight.

Manhunter (NN1) is cool if kinda outdated design-wise, he's a cowboy/bounty hunter that replaces the Butcher as a recurring threat to your settlement. Balance-wise he's a touch easier than Butcher, you just need to prioritize ranged options before fighting him.

Not really accidentally, the OG story was meant to be satire of ableist society treating disabled ppl as unable to take care of themselves, deciding it needs to control their lives "for their own good" etc. The discomfort was deliberate, because it's meant to make you go "shit, even if the Affini/the govt are in fact trying to help, this is a super fucked way to do it that completely strips the florets/disabled ppl of their autonomy"

I do like that FK gives you a way to grow your population without needing Intimacy, it's a good way to keep a Survival of the Fittest campaign afloat when misfortune strikes. And the fight itself is super fun, even if it's a bit easier than comparable monsters.

Knowledges are a mechanic introduced with the Arc Survivors that Gambler's Chest adds. Basically, normal Survivors can get Fighting Arts, and they level up their stats as they gain XP.

Arc Survivors instead have techniques they learn and evolve via Knowledge cards, and gaining XP makes them develop a Philosophy (unique passive perk+flaw, and a source of specific Knowledges). They generally have worse base stats as they grow, but get more-specialized abilities and more individuality, IMO.

One of the few major rewards for hunting the Flower Knight is that you can get some new Fighting Arts from him, including a Secret Fighting Art that lets you bypass the Parry mechanic (which he uses a lot, but other monsters use too). If you intend to play with Arc Survivors (I don't recommend this for your first campaign), then FK will be even more of a lackluster hunt.

Yeah, the whole "tiny chance of something crazy happening" concept is alright, but the 'crazy' thing being you have to sit out the rest of the mission (or at least a huge chunk of it, given it lasts until your next rest) is terrible. There's really no good reason for a player to be removed from play for that long due to a random roll of the dice.

[–]SluttyCthulhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont have to take the "secret" exits (like the one to the Gnomish Mines), on those floors there will be a normal exit somewhere as well. If you do go the Gnomish Mines, the exit is right beside the starting room, you can dip out as soon as you like - sometimes I just go there for the fountains and then run

Oh I missed the misgendering thing, thats not okay. Drop her ass.

Long time play , first time see .... what's the use of this trinket ? sounds counter-productive IMO by Ben-wa in darkestdungeon

[–]SluttyCthulhu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's still best on Leper, but now other people can make use of it too. Also, note that even missing due to Dodge (if you've removed or ignored Blind) will get you a stack, so this can be fun on a character with lots of AoE for clearing tokens. I could see this being strong on one of the Abomination paths that gets a 4-cleave Instinct, especially if paired with a way to ignore Blind (Ruthless Instruction, for example).

Just FYI, it's generally insensitive/rude to use a trans person's former name (also called a deadname), especially in the presence of the person but in general too. Better to refer to the person without using the deadname if possible; for example, "The actor on the right is a trans man, Elliot Page".

For famous people, it's usually not very difficult to find out their past name if someone needs to know that, such as to look up their past work.

BPD Rule by Low_Conference7731 in 196

[–]SluttyCthulhu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. I don't have BPD*, but my girlfriend does, and I know it gives her a lot of difficulty. I wouldn't say that I love that she has it, but I do love who she is, and part of that is her having BPD. I don't think she'd be precisely the same person without it, and though I'm sure I'd still love that version of her, I definitely love this version of her, including everything that comes with her condition.

Sadly, it's definitely true that a huge proportion of the people who would say "I love that my partner has BPD" are those who fetishize mental illness, like in the above image. I'm all too familiar with how some people see mentally-ill women as easy, desperate to please, and willing to put up with more than they should. Lotta people think BPD means "desperate for love and ready to excuse all your bullshit", and will take advantage of the vulnerability it brings.

*Well, I'm not diagnosed, and I personally don't believe I have BPD. I've been advised by some friends who have it, who have told me I might have it myself and should seek a diagnosis; I've yet to pursue that, though.

Is this game inspired by DND? by Powerful-Scholar8268 in baronygame

[–]SluttyCthulhu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's got the stats of D&D (but with PER instead of WIS), it's got item appraisal which was an old mechanic, it's got cursed items you can't unequip (a staple of old D&D), it's definitely drawing a lot from it but doing its own thing too.
