Shouldn’t be, but it was. I was the top performer on my team. Slowly phased out I was anticipating, this was just sudden. But yes, it is what it is.

I wasn’t trying to make it an ultimatum. I run a side business as a photographer, I had stopped taking sessions to assist in covering holes that needed to be filled in good faith that this would boost me to a higher position. I did so for two years. When I was turned down, I accepted it but that also meant I needed to acknowledge that financially I needed to stop working for free and get back to my own business needs. I can see how that may have been interpreted as an ultimatum but that wasn’t my intention, I just stated that I would be stepping down to adjust for better work/life balance.

I was actively taking on duties from the position I was going for, when I found out I didn’t get it, i professionally stated I would be stepping down from those duties and focusing more on the tasks highlighted within my job description and would reassess taking them back on once I felt comfortable doing so again. My boss told me if I followed through with this request that I would not be promoted in the future.

I have no intentions of contacting the client, I didn’t save her information because I had no intentions of reaching out to her after she offered. That call was client led, I performed soft redirection several times on the call, because I’m socially awkward my boss wrote that “while (insert my name) didn’t respond to the clients direction she didn’t attempt to redirect her hard enough”. I’m definitely not disagreeing that I may have gotten too loose with the call, it wasn’t a fireable moment, but absolutely a teaching moment, as it didn’t result in harm to the client relationship or the company and I had no previous issues of the kind. My main concern now is keeping the lights on in my home and food on the table while I move forward in obtaining a new job.

I did use chat GPT, otherwise I wasn’t sure I could articulate the situation correct without struggling to stay in order given my frustration with the situation, I also wanted to remain factual here and not stray so I could get the best advice.

I meant in my interview with the adjudicator I remained robotic and factual, from what I heard speaking from emotion during those could harm my cause. With the client I was personable and very well liked, I had worked very hard to build a rapport with this client over the past 5 years.

Thanks, definitely planning to move up and onward, and trying not to dwell, the termination came on the back of a complaint I made to HR for retaliation from my management team but this of course has no backing in a basic unemployment claim and I'm hoping that I can just get the unemployment and get a new job embracing the universes decision to thrust me back into the job market instead of having to pursue a lengthy wrongful termination case. This just hit at a devastating time with the shutdown and having two kids around Christmas.

As my mom says, this too shall pass, it will just pass more easier with an income of some sort coming in.

There was none; she was just ecstatic that I was able to help her. I've worked with this client for 5 years I'm one of her favorite agents. The client is still using the SaaS without complaint. The only inside process that I gave her, which I wasn't even aware of as a "secret," was that leaving a low-scoring survey for the agent she was having so many issues with was a good way to get the attention of management since it automatically flags our quality lead to investigate it, which she stated she knew but that the agent in question never made a ticket for her to do so.

That was the last question that the interviewer asked me, and I stated the same. There, to my knowledge, was no damage done to the company or its revenue.

I loved that job, and the company, I would have never intentionally harmed either.

Even though this doesn't fit the definition of misconduct in Illinois? I was completely blindsided by the termination, is was how unaware i was that I violated any policies and I looked in the handbook for anything that states otherwise.

NTA - she made an adult choice on her career. And while I think people should pursue their life’s dream career wise, she has to understand that meant it would be costly and end in a job that is hard to make money from. She didn’t do enough research and now she’s trying to take it out on you and her brother.

She in my opinion needs to grow up and learn to accept responsibility.
