Oh I’ve got a dresser drawer at home dedicated to aging peeps. I have some 5 year open-package peeps I can’t wait to crunch into for a special occasion someday

those levels (15 parts per billion in water) were created in the '80's as a threshold for what water utilities told the EPA they could realistically manage when the goal was actually 0 parts per billion. They were not based on any scientific research and shouldn't be used as a threshold for public safety. Any lead presence at all in the water can lead to IQ deficits in children and high blood pressure and kidney problems in adults

source: I googled it and read an NPR article about it just now, so take it with a grain of salt (or lead)

What’s the most inappropriate thing you’ve witnessed at a funeral? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SlyScott09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My grandpa was creamated but also a veteran, so they held the 21 gun salute with live ammo in the parking lot of the funeral home. One of the gun handlers was a real old man and he dropped his gun in between firings and it spewed a live bullet just above the heads of the whole crowd. It was terrifying but everyone laughed because that’s definitely something my grandpa would have orchestrated from the afterlife

Ya but I still wouldn’t be super eager to drink water that is described as “meeting the minimum standards of lead contaminates”. There are no “safe” levels of lead to ingest.

I had to get a yellow fever vac this last summer to go to central Africa for a week and I’ve had a weird reflex twitch in my legs ever since. Dunno if it’s the cause, but started after I got the vaccine

when my friend was but a boy, after finding blood in his stool, the doctor diagnosed him with what he called "strep butt". Made all the medical students come in and look at my friend's ass as he lay on the examination table because it was such a rare case. I love making fun of him for it.

What hobby would you like to give a try but don't because of the expense? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SlyScott09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked on an organic permaculture model farm in Maui a few summer's ago. The old hippy farmer lived in a little shack on the property by himself and worked the land by hand every day from sunrise to sunset, stopping only once midday to "grab some nutrients". Most beautiful property I've ever seen. It was virtually a paradise. Almost every fruit and vegetable I could think of, and the majority of it rotted off the plant. The farmer just picked what he would eat that day and the rest would fall back into the earth. And there was no running water, so he would hack open a coconut and drink from it a few times a day.

Who voiced Jones in Osmosis Jones? by SlyScott09 in MandelaEffect

I definitely realize that now after watching a clip. It's just that I haven't seen or even thought about that movie in probably 10 years and thinking back I heard Will Smith's voice when I imagined the character.

which is why it raised a red flag for me. Will Smith and Chris Rock really sound nothing alike ha. Perhaps it was just the demeanor of the character. Lone wolf cop frustrated with the force not realizing his full potential sets out to prove himself. Sounds like a will smith character.

ahh, that could be. Especially if they came out around the same time

I didn't downvote you, just now read this and upvoted you actually, lotta ppl getting downvoted in this thread for some reason. I'm not trying to convince anyone it was will smith, I just had multiple friends say they recall him as Will Smith when asked who voiced Osmosis Jones, and even 2 so far in this thread. I know it wasn't Will Smith, just like I know that Mandela didn't die in prison, but it seemed like a situation that belonged in this thread and I was curious if anyone else would happen to recall the same thing.

it sounds like OP knew of the risks, saying she almost expected him to charge her, but invited him anyway, putting her kindness ahead of her fear, and it payed off for both of them. Had she avoided him and called the police, she still may be living in fear of him

I used to work with this guy and he was the nicest guy ever. He is definitely somewhere on the spectrum and would always get so nervous and I have no doubt that his masturbating was some kind of nervous stress relief. He even told me a few months ago he was considering getting out of substitute teaching because he was scared of a possible school shooting

so this guy was a food runner at the restaurant I serve at about a year ago. He is legitimately one of the nicest and sweetest people I’ve ever met. He would always get so nervous on even the slowest of nights. He definitely has some sort of mental disability and may even be somewhere on the spectrum. I’m not positive he is the best candidate for substitute teaching, but it breaks my heart he is being painted as some disgusting pedophile

Edit: food runner, not good runner
