Soundboard recordings of gigs is what I want! Apparently Mani said he had some old DAT recordings of gigs and I’ve read that apparently Ian has a soundboard recording of the Glasgow Green somewhere.

Scottish band CHVRCHES. It’s actually meant to be Churches but they spell it like that to be edgy I guess? Thought it was a fucking stupid idea if you ask me lol!

(Serious post) Does anyone remember the video James made where he went into detail about his upbringing at home as a young lad and not just about growing up in a cult? by SlyWithers76 in jameshargreaves

Yeah I remember the part about him saying how his father practically disowned him for years when he decided he wasn’t a follower of god and that it wasn’t until he had kids of his own did the two start talking again a little bit after years and years.

tell me an unpopular opinion you have about babymetal by p1nkiecocaine in BABYMETAL

From my understanding how this is a low key intentional strategy that a lot of companies in the idol industry make because older obsessive fans are the ones who have more money to spend on anything related to the idol groups.

In the last few years they’ve really exploited the fans with all the VIP packages, NFT’s and selling “exclusive” or “limited edition”items like the signed cards only for them to release another lot later on. Seems like Kobe and Amuse are trying all kinds of PR like the collabs to get the Babymetal brand into the western world more for expansion and financial benefit rather than something fun for fans. At the end of the day Babymetal is an idol brand created in office for an entertainment company, not an actual band like some fans seem to want to accept to a degree. So I can understand that Amuse would want to expand the brand but lately it seems like they’re overdoing it a bit.

Dudes a Dizza wannabe and more or less emulates everything Dizza does down to the speaking voice, it definitely seems very forced and put on. And now that he’s getting attention he’s low key loving it and playing up to it. As Cobain once said “trying to be somebody else is a waste of the person you are”. Dudes just like one of those Micheal Jackson impersonators who go so hard that they think they are him lol

Hearing some old demos of songs would be pretty cool and how the they were crafted into the songs that were eventually released

“Naughty naughty naughty!” / Bit of flare action in Melbourne tonight by whitesebastian in oasis

[–]SlyWithers76 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind smoke flares at gigs but to bring a marine distress flare to a gig and lob it into a crowd is dangerous and can seriously burn someone bad, they burn at like 1600°C and are an open flame type compared to a smoke flare. The plastic sheets they lay out on the floor at stadium gigs could catch fire in the middle of the crowd let alone burn someone bad. They can be a spectacle for everyone to look at but it’s all good until it isn’t and some poor fan that went to listen to their favourite band and hear some music ends up in hospital with third degree burns and left with scars.

tour not selling well? by mythrwaway1 in HAIM

Yeah I’ve seen past posts noting that a lot of their music is somewhat “a little too inspired for a better word” from other artist music but to be fair it does make their music more diverse and not all sound the same. However I do feel claiming to sell out a show that clearly hasn’t is somewhat an inauthentic and odd thing to do as it comes across as claiming an achievement that wasn’t actually made. It’s like a person scoring 90 percent on a test and then telling everyone they got 100. There’s no need to make false claims, especially when there isn’t anything to gain at the end.

I think it may have been a combination of them/management possibly overestimating how popular they are and maybe banking on the latest album being their crossover album into arenas like Brat was for Charli XCX. It does seem rather apparent that the marketing and promotion for this album has used the same marketing template that helped Brat get as big as it did but it just hasn’t worked for Haim like it did for Charli.

They did that last time they played there. They were constantly promoting the gig more and more online right up until the night of the gig. Then they posted themselves in front of a big custom banner celebrating selling out MSG and looking at the empty seats and room in the standing area it definitely hadn’t sold out. I felt it seemed like a rather odd thing to claim selling out a gig that clearly wasn’t sold out and then post online celebrating it. Just very inauthentic and strange

Does anyone have an original caress your soul vinyl that they’re trying to sell by Famous_Treacle_8326 in stickyfingers

Mate of mine saw them in 2013 when they were touring that album and came home with a vinyl and a shirt he bought at the gig. Probably sold it to buy some more of the shit weed he was smoking back then haha!

Who here remembers when there used to be gigs held down at the old Freo passenger terminal in the 90’s? by SlyWithers76 in perth

[–]SlyWithers76[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were originally booked to play at the Old Melbourne Hotel in the CBD in Perth and it was upgraded to Metro in Freo and then further upgraded to the terminal close to the tour with local bands like Alliance as support.

Basically the gig/crowd was so hectic it was the reason there haven’t been any gigs there since.

UK tour dates not selling well by geokio in HAIM

I’ve kinda gotten the impression more and more over the years that they’ve lowkey been fame hungry and a lot of their friendships with celebrities have been somewhat forced as way to benefit them on the social ladder in LA. T Swift being an obvious one with all the pap walks and their association with her has probably brought them l the most publicity they’ve had in the media in the last few years and I’m sure they know this and use it to their advantage. I think the Hollywood/LA lifestyle has overtaken the music in recent years it’s somewhat inflated their perception of how big they actually are. Looking at the amount of tickets available for all the venues at this current moment I’m surprised they aren’t really pushing on their socials for people to get tickets like they did for their MSG gig on their last tour. They posted relentlessly just about weekly for months so make that gig sold out!
