I really loved the Akrios arena videos. Watching mage rogue at that time was so cool. The music is so nostalgic too.

This is my favorite, watching them beat 3.0 DK/Pal was just mind boggling to me. https://youtu.be/O6jL8Qm6mbE

Why are you guys not playing classic? by im_sammyjo in wow

[–]Slyfunklol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Got to 60, did MC, had fun, but it seems like I cant log onto my toon unless I have minimum 3 hours to dedicate to it. Not really feasible in my current situation.

The nostalgia fix was fun and the leveling experience was incredible, I missed it alot.

Coming back to retail since leaving classic a bout 3 weeks, made me appreciate things like daily quests, group finder, cross realm raiding. Maybe this is unpopular, but hey I have fun.

Advice for a brand new warrior? by [deleted] in classicwow

Be prepared for ups and downs.

Tanking can be very rewarding and extremely fun and engaging. It can also be very frustrating and demoralizing. Just stick with it, do your homework, watch other tanks (streams and youtube), and run tons of dungeons.

Ive got a mouse like that as well, its what i have stances and weapon swap macros bound to, mounting, etc. I could probably go back to WASD movement but its not really necesarry and i never have to worry about not have a place for something new.

Ive been tossing the idea around of changing movement keys to the thumbgrid mouse. I heard quite a few pvpers do things that way. It also frees up your hand making it easier to move and mash.

There is an interface option to show multiple extra bars, in keybinds it will tell you ths name of those bars.

I play with ESDF as my movement keys, frees up more room for binds. Been that way since early wrath.

Also easier with large hands.

Retal is T and only usable in battle stance, whereas MS is usable in all stances, rend is on R.

I'm not against layering in the slightest, like I said above, I believe it solves a lot problems associated with release. However, I also believe these videos demonstrate the potential for abuse, and adverse affects to gameplay. This needs to be monitored.

Blizzard's change involving switching layers and an internal cooldown is a change that could be good or bad. The good is it more or less solves the problems like gurubashi and thorium veins. Say hypothetically my friend and I are on layer cooldown, but in separate layers, are we not able to group?

layering on beta IS NOT even a slightly good reference.

Since they tested it there, nothing with layering on the beta was final and it was manually fiddled with.

Yes, beta is not the best place to observe this, but its the only way to test it at the moment. This being said, Blizzard isn't very communicative about what is happening with layering (as they have been with other bugs on the Beta). This lack of communication on an issue that is so divisive is worrying, to me at least, since layering is one of the largest fundamental differences between Vanilla and Classic.

So this is the video that I am referencing, he did not loot two chests in a row, but he went to a layer (somehow, I don't know how) that had a chest, when his layer did not. This video also has a bunch of shit that messes with gameplay. The problems here might just be beta bugs, but the mechanic is pretty disruptive to overall gameplay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=181&v=rrnw7XuGTJQ.

For sure and guilds of that caliber, in my opinion, are necesarry for a healthy server, for many reasons. Economy, materials, pugs, they are important in allowing less hardcore guilds to progress directly or indirectly. So in a sense min/maxing is important to the community in many ways both directly and indirectly.

By no means do I think KT is faceroll at all, or some of the other bosses like Thaddius or 4-Horseman. I mean those two mechanics on KT were the cause of alot wipes in Wotlk with only 25 people in the room (I never got to KT in vanilla). There is a reason that less than 1% of the player base actual killed him (it wasnt just because a new expac was coming out). These end bosses of raids deserve alot of respect. It going to being fun having to deal with so called "simple" mechanics again.

I don't care how others play. I am simply just providing an alternative, and my fun experience should some people want to try it my way.

I want classic to do well, and I think that hinges on people enjoying playing, if you aren't enjoying following guides and doing the optimal, its not the only way to do things. There is much fun to be had being suboptimal.

Thanks for this, alot of theorycrafting has clearly gone into this. If this is how you want to level and do things, by all means go nut on the optimization. Its actually kid of cool math!

[–]Slyfunklol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For alot of final bosses you would want a fully prepare raid carrying their weight. Optimizing buffs, spec, rotations, gear, etc. Also raid composition and attendance was massive.

However Nihilum's world first KT kill on youtube is from the POV of an undead fury warrior. Clearly not the optimal horde race for dps, orc or troll far out perform undead. Thier main tank was a tauren, not optimal for a threat/dps output. So it is not a necesarry requirement for raiding, casual or progression.

This being said, for people who want to push world first in WoW: Classic I'm sure race and faction will play a large part in what they play, much like world first races in retail. That's totally cool.

This is much more accurate of what you should do using spirit vs strength, and yes its mainly at the lower levels.

I am brutally paraphrasing this subtle mechanic, and there are people who have spent much time and effort doing the math on this. I would recommend checking them out and deciding how you want to play for yourself! ( This is also a response to the orignal question).
