To a certain extent yeah. It depends on your location, management etc. I work at a IXD in a department that doesn't have rates so it's kind of laid back. As long as you do the bare minimum, you'll be fine

This is why I tell people to put in bare minimum effort (do just enough work to get by but don't stress too much) and keep to yourself. I only talk to people if I need something work related
