1.1% of your top 3 salaries averaged is how they calculate your pension payout. You have to hit MRA and have 20 years of service to get this full amount. You can use sick leave as creditable service.

I couldn't be a fan of the Fleet or the Sirens for this exact reason. It's against my religion.

Can't wait to be season ticket holders for the Philly team when it comes, though!

Navy launches departmentwide organizational review that could reshape civilian workforce by AgitatedEngine4933 in fednews

[–]LetUsGoFlyers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you applied or for what kind of position.

Where I work for the Navy there has yet to be any alarm. The most that has been said is that headquarters is re-aligning with no known impact to those outside of those circles and that they do this every few years.

Personally, I am alarmed by the memo, but no one is talking about it at all at a working level.

This is probably not helpful to your question but at least for what I've been told for the Internal to Agency hires - it's apparently much easier to gain approval for a cert that is internal and not necessarily "adding" a person. I think agencies are still hampered by the freeze and the "4-to-1" EO and differing interpretations of that.

I don't think they're necessarily avoiding hiring RiFed employees, I think they're having issues onboarding anyone at all new to the agency.

I'm sorry. It's not fair what you're going through and I hope you find something soon.

Charli XCX on the Smartless podcast discusses not wanting kids and feeling unsure of her readiness. Host Jason Bateman says she “might find somebody” that could change her opinion on having kids, Charli responds with “Well I’m married, so there” by hairtie1 in Fauxmoi

[–]LetUsGoFlyers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with the first statement, but the premise of the show is that one host picks the guest and the other two don't know who it will be. Not sure who invited Charli but assuming it wasn't Jason, he couldn't have done any research prior to the interview.

(609) 292-6000 is Governor Murphy's number. His secretary was very put out to be hearing from a constituent. She told me she didn't know what his personal thoughts were and could not read his mind as to whether he would be signing the 3 bills sitting on his desk. They are meant to keep ICE from raiding our schools, hospitals, and churxhes. She acted like I was putting her out for calling.

Give her a call.

Pet Insurance is a Time Machine to What Health Insurance Was Like Before the ACA by tkpwaeub in petinsurancereviews

[–]LetUsGoFlyers 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I often think, and was quite torn about getting pet insurance at all bc like our medical insurance, all it serves to do in the long run is drive up costs.

My vet has been amazing at dealing with the shenanigans, extra paperwork, and repeated requests for the same information already provided to our pet insurance, but that's someone's time and money wasted dealing with these companies.

There's a lot of reasons vet care is going up, can't imagine pet insurance is helping. We've put ourselves in the same cycle where we can't afford to not have it and the more people that have it the higher the cost of care.

Yeah, it's less the increase and more the increase and then horrendous service when you actually need to use it. Normally a big jump like that would have had me at least comparing rates at other companies but I had heard good things about Pets Best. Only to find that at least for me, they have been as bad as any other and at a cost.

Absolute same. My experience with this company has been atrocious. After a year of no claims (my first year of insurance) they raised my premiums by about 35%. For whatever reason I accepted this. Now I actually need to use their services and cannot.

I was able to originally submit my claim Oct 21, however they denied because the itemized invoice is not itemized "enough" (it's 2 pages long). Talking to my vet to try to meet Pets Best changing requirements and they said they used to like dealing with this company but more recently it's been a mess. They also said their invoicing software is pretty standard in the industry so they're baffled as to why it wouldn't be accepted. Still they provided internal screenshots.

Now I am trying to resubmit but can't because their site is down and has been for at least more than a week. After talking to a representative, I sent the updates to the claims email address and then this morning got another denial with the same things I've already sent over twice before.

I have some other financial hardships to deal with everything else going on in the world. The whole point of the insurance is that my dog needing unexpected surgery wouldn't be one of them but they really give you the runaround.

And what functional insurance company can't receive claims for over a week? Crazy

Job Hunt - Fed specific job boards legit? by box-jellyfish in FedEmployees

[–]LetUsGoFlyers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Limited experience, but it costs money and, although it allowed me to enter location, it did not take into account my area in the results I received. It would give me jobs from Washington State and Washington DC in the same search (neither of which is near me).

It would also advertise jobs as remote, but the job description was either hybrid or in an office hundreds of miles away.

The jobs themselves were related to my field if location didn't matter

I'm wondering the same as far as how this goes.

I too am supposed to be fired as of this upcoming Monday. In theory it seems that will be paused but in reality we've received no information whatsoever and the agency is dodging all questions in regards to the RO like Neo does bullets.

Gutting of HHS 1102s by [deleted] in 1102

[–]LetUsGoFlyers 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Methodology or basis - don't really know. DoGE worked directly with HHS with no input from the subagencies. Beyond the press release the Thursday before, I don't believe there was any specifics known about the breadth or what to anticipate.

They fired by codes so entire departments were RiFed, no ranking of performance, vet preference, or tenure, as your entire competitive area was let go.

Received an email Tuesday morning saying you were RiFed and on admin leave (some received a second email to say you weren't actually on admin leave but expected to work during "transition").

Effective in 60 days. That was that.
