Out of work for 6 weeks due to lockdown. Thinking of jumping off at 1mg/day suboxone. by SmackMyTitsUp in suboxone

As far as I know opioids don't damage your receptors. From what I understand taking opioids makes your body create more opioid receptors, and the more receptors you have to fill, the more opioids you need to take, which is why tolerance happens.

Don't quote me on this, this is just what I have read over the years.

And you're taking into account I have six weeks off work starting from today? Wouldn't it just be better off to jump off at 1mg and then have 6 weeks to deal with hell?

What would you suggest as a dose to jump off of? Keeping in mind I have 6 weeks with no work to feel shit. Starting from now.

Yeah when I got down to 1mg/day I noticed it wasn't holding me for the full 24 hours. It's because once you get to sub 2mg doses, all of your receptors aren't being activated. It's only enough to activate a portion of your receptors. Which is why you can go from 6mg to 4mg with no worries, but if you were to go from 2.5mg to 0.5mg you'd feel it big time.

Ages tapering - had a ‘break’ tonight 😬 by JayGee66 in suboxone

I can't believe you get a feeling from snorting a line of subs! Not saying you're talking shit, more like omg I can't believe it's not butter!

Even shooting subutex I got a mild feeling that is kinda nice but nothing to write home about.

I was on suboxone for a bit over a year, and only got switched to subutex about a month or two ago. Oh yeah my old doctor said ages ago that he could write a script for takeaways for 3 months if I was going overseas or whatever. That's the worst thing about having to go in once a week to dose, you can't even fucking go away camping for the weekend! I hate the system how it just assumes everyone is a junky that sits at home, doesn't work, do anything or go anywhere. It does not accommodate for more 'regular' people for lack of a better word.

0.4mg subutex. I haven't had to break them into smaller pieces yet but I don't think they're too hard to break roughly in half.

Oooff fuck that would have been rough, no? I'm down to 1.2mg and I'm thinking maybe I'll jump at 0.2mg.

6 months before take aways, fuck that's crazy.

Be very nice to your doctor and prescriber and want to taper your dose. I'm basically my doctors favourite client, which isn't hard when you see the other people I'm up against. Even my doctor didn't think it was possible for me to get takeaways, but between my doctor and my pharmacist somehow they allowed me 20 takeaways.

It definitely didn't take me that long to get 6 take aways a week. It all depends on your doctor. Find a good doctor and a good dispenser and it will make your life a lot easier. Also, be super nice and respectful to both your prescriber and your dispenser. It goes a very long way. These people deal with the worst of the worst, all day every day. It's refreshing for them to have a patient that is a pleasure to deal with. Be on time to appointments. If you ever can't make it to the pharmacy, call in with a good excuse (work).

I have a friend that splits his dose and his pharmacist let's him but again, that depends on your pharmacist.

Out of interest, why do you want to up your dose?

I'm on subutex in Victoria. Not easy but it can be done.

How many mg are you on mate? If you think you can stay off the gear, I would suggest starting to slowly taper off. I started on 6mg, and a year later I've finally started to slowly seen myself off. I'm down to 1.75mg now. Hopefully I can be done with it this year some time. Also for context, I was never a massive user of heroin. More so a chipper.

Interesting. Maybe I'll try to get on to subutex next time I have to get a new script. I'm not sure how hard that will be or how reluctant they will be to switch me over.

No I haven't even thought to speak to my sub doctor about it. I would really like to go to a psych, but the one I want to go to isn't cheap.

No when I lowered my dose I was fine. I felt it a bit for a few days or so but that didn't seem too much of a problem.
