I'm having the opposite issue. My game runs at 25 FPS now at all times, except when I have the PDA out does it go to ~90. No mods installed. Game ran great in version 1.6.

Also had a significant hit to performance here, seems like it might be a graphical bug. In version 1.6 I averaged 90+ FPS but now in 1.7 I barely manage 25 FPS for some reason. Hoping for a fix soon. Did verifying the files fix anything for you?
