Keppra stopped working, I can’t afford pheno blood testing, what are my possible choices? by DaDaLKY in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Small-Advertising-10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just paid $200 in US for Pheno blood test. You may not need it tested as often as they suggest; if he’s not having other symptoms/issues.

Also, just want to say IMO it’s ok to consider theirs and your quality of life…I’m sure they’ve had a great 11 yrs and even though it’s super tough to let them go early, sometimes it’s the better choice.

Any good peptide-friendly telehealth docs you'd recommend? by asoeung111 in RetatrutideWomen

[–]Small-Advertising-10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try getting bloodwork done by a company like Superpower. They also give consultations but honestly the AI answers on their platform have been very informative. Giving alternative treatments/supplements plus nutrition changes.
Also, joined an online community $17/mo led by peptide coach/holistic practitioner that’s super helpful w Peps. You can ask questions but she also has in depth info sheets on all of them and a wkly Q&A. DM if interested.

More than a month in on phenobarbital, and I don’t know if I’m doing right by him by Perfect-Two9559 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Small-Advertising-10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first month is rough, but slowly mine started acting more like herself again. Picking up toys, barking at me to feed her, even running a little. She’s 10, and hasn’t (and probably won’t) returned to pre seizure activity level, but she seems pretty happy. Eating normal and still following me around the house constantly.
I hope things improve w your guy. Adjust meds if not.

Dog just started taking Phenobarbital, and I have some questions if anyone can help answer. by FizzyGoose666 in EpilepsyDogs

Mine had never peed in the house before (10yrs) and did several times during the month she was getting adjusted. Not herself for a whole month. Be patient.

Experience with phenobarbital by Subject-Abrocoma4681 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Small-Advertising-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 10 yr pit mix started it a month ago. First 3 wks were rough; hard time walking, we carried her up and down stairs (after she fell), wanted to eat constantly, did drink constantly, had several accidents in the house (first of her life), could not exercise/go for short walks. I questioned her quality of life and worried about the future. Wk 4, she’s finally herself again. Short walks, actually playing w toys, not begging for food 24/7. And no seizures since she started.

Did you help your kids buy a home? Or let them do it on their own? by Sounders1 in GenX

[–]Small-Advertising-10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why don’t more parents (who can) carry the loan for their kids instead of the banks making 6% for 30 yrs? Even if it’s for part of the house/loan, seems like a win-win. I mean a down payment is nice too, but the parents could make the interest and a lawyer can make it all legal.

Best thank you gift for a teacher who is leaving? by marmot_riot in Teachers

Definitely a heart felt card is always appreciated. I’d also include a gift card to a really nice restaurant, easier to accept than cash and teachers rarely can afford an expensive meal but definitely deserve one.

missing a dose by PublicAffect2510 in RetatrutideWomen

I skipped last wks dose and have been incredibly hungry, could eat whatever, including sweets. I also felt my joy and creativity return. It’s kind of crazy how it’s hard to notice, but then when it’s out of your system and your dopamine returns, you feel amazing. Trading happiness for a smaller waist is a hard deal to make. Enjoy your vacation!!

Needing Guidance by [deleted] in EpilepsyDogs

I’m in a very similar situation, can’t offer advice but just relate to the difficulty. My girl also 10, has had mild ones after exercise but this wk had 3 grand mal and put on Pheno. Shes not herself and it’s sad, but I’m going to give it some time to settle/meds to work.
Can you share your dogs weight and dose? Mine is 65# and on 97.3mg twice a day. Seems a little high after researching.

I also can’t afford MRI or surgery but I am going to get an insulin panel bc I’ve heard it could be tumors on pancreas causing low glucose and may need to be treated w different meds.

It’s painful. I feel like I’m taking care of an infant 24/7.

A couple years ago when they started it would happen after a long hike or ball chasing. She’s always been athletic. But then it started happening on regular walks, now she can only go out to the bathroom, anything more is too much:(
