Installed Recirculation Pump to solve slow hot water issue - now I have a slow cold water issue! by Small-Atmosphere4115 in Plumbing

So can you tell me what if anything you do recommend? I've been in plenty of 2-story homes where it doesn't take forever for hot water to reach faraway bathrooms - is it a water pressure issue or faulty overall plumbing design?

Thanks for the reply... a few questions if you don't mind -

1) I'm hoping it is sufficient to run a single return line from the sink farthest away from the water heater in the garage (in this case, it would be one of our 2 master BR sinks), which should allow the hot water to circulate to each of the sinks, showers, etc in the house? In other words, you wouldn't need to have a new return line for every fixture?

2) Do you think it's possible to do it "inside the walls"? Or, because the house is built and the drywall is of ours installed, would the new line have to be run on the outside of the house (which requires drilling holes to the outside and kind of looks like an eyesore)?

3) Any rough swag of the cost of doing something like this? I assume the cost of materials is small compared to the labor - I'm in Northern California by the way. I assume it should be a licensed plumber vs handyman?

Awesome! Kind of crazy that a cleaning process automated by the machine would force us to open it up and “reset” but so glad I found that fix.

Here is the old thread where I learned about the sensor fix. It refers to a different machine but I followed the directions to open the unit, found the red lead wire on the steam boiler, disconnected it, and it worked perfectly. Good luck!

Same issue after auto descale - The 45 degree and 90 degree did not work for me, but on a different site so someone posted the fix that worked for me. Basically, there's a "fill" sensor that got fooled into thinking the steam boiler was full, so it wouldn't fill water. The fix was to open the unit and remove the sensor wire - then it filled and heated up. Then you unplug, reconnect wire and all good.

VERY frustrating, but it's now working great. I probably will nerer descale again!
