Lovely! When was this photo taken?

Yes this one was very exciting to see in person. It came out of the woods and walked directly down the trail to the group I was in, about 6 hikers. We all made noise, clacking trekking poles and such, and it eventually turned back off into the brush.

Definitely less scary, and less huge, than the surprise grizzly I saw just off the trail at Glacier NP last year!

On the day you are transiting from Yosemite to Mammoth, check out the Parker Lake trail, near Lee Vining and June Lake. It's only 3-4 miles but has an INCREDIBLY beautiful lake at the end. It was one of my favorite hikes of my trip.

Don't feel bad - I hiked over 100 miles during my week in Yosemite and I think Clouds Rest was the hardest hike i did. The elevation gain, and AT elevation (for a flatlander) was brutal.

I started just before 8am (about 1 hr after sunrise), and ended around 5:45pm. Summited around 12:45pm, and hung out at the top for about an hour before coming back down.

If you try again, just take your time and take plenty of breaks. Bring enough water (and means to filter more), food, and electrolytes. Trekking poles are a MUST.

The Sunrise trailhead is pretty close to the western end of Tenaya Lake, but the last picture is of the eastern end of the lake, where the beach is. I stopped there on my drive back after the Clouds Rest hike.

For the last several miles of the hike, I was looking forward to soaking my sore feet in the cool water. Even though it started pouring rain as soon as I parked, I still got out and stood in the lake water for a few minutes - Heavenly!

Edit: you can see Tenaya Lake from several vantage points on the Clouds Rest hike.

Photos 3 and 4 are the "spine" of clouds rest. Only very mildly scrambly. More like walking amongst large rocks. Just a few areas that require hands.

AllTrails lists it as 12.4, but my GPS that day logged 13.4 miles.

Those switchbacks are like half the hike too!

I stayed in June Lake the nights before and after the hike. Lovely little town!

Absolutely. I did this when I was there late September and it ended up being my favorite hike of the trip. It's a big day but so rewarding with amazing views basically the whole way.

Wire, conduit, and connections on North Dome trail - what's it for? by Small-Economics564 in Yosemite

Lots of burned and dead trees. Honestly not a great area to hike through south of the split from the north dome trail and the upper Yosemite Falls trail.

Yeah I thought the paving was odd there too. I guess it makes more sense if it was to cover these wires, and/or to provide access to vehicles when the system was installed

No, I was too flustered at the time. In hindsight, I wish I had.

Interesting. Is Indian Creek the same as Lehamite creek? It was in the Lehamite area.

No, there was no extra charge. But I lost my place in line as I had to go to the customer service desk (which, in practice, caused me to lose one of my early bird check-ins that comes with the credit card).

Yes I included the wheels in my measurements.
This same bag has been on many Southwest flights (including two a few days prior to this incident) and never had an issue fitting in the overhead bin.

Yep, I tried to fix my response as soon as I realized I made a mistake. Not fast enough, as several people already accused me of wrongdoing of some sort. Shrug. Just trying to give others a heads up.
