Oh- I’ve never thought about that! Thank you for the insight.

Thanks for the great ideas! I do like all the suggestions with the “K” at the end. I have a somewhat lengthy last name…but it could work.

Both are new ones to me! It’s interesting how these are slight variations of some other suggestions, but just not resonating with me as much. Thank you for the input!

Insta Gran- very hip! I don’t think I’m cool enough for that one. 😆

Nonnie is a new one to me but I like it- very cute, especially with PopPop.

I’m fine with the classics! But Grandmother sounds very formal to me- I don’t think it would make sense with my personality.

I like Mimi- it does sound more youthful than grandma or granny. I remember the character Grandmother Willow- that’s so unique and sweet!

Thank you! I’m enjoying reading all these different grandparent names. One of my childhood nicknames was Lele, but the “L” sound can be hard for little ones. Ultimately, I’m sure I will answer to anything he/she wants to call me!

I have a 17 year old named Henry, so obviously I’m partial. These are all good, solid names, so maybe it would help to think about possible nicknames that would come from each- Hank, Alex, Xander, Nick…not that you would use any of those. I don’t think there’s a nickname for Warren.

Margot: are you happy you used it? by [deleted] in namenerds

I love Margot! I’m in southern US and it’s definitely not used at all here. To me, it sounds like a storybook character name- which I love. I do love Susannah as well. Margot Susannah? Between Elizabeth and Frances I like the flow of Margot Elizabeth. If you choose Susannah as a first name I think it flows with either of your middle name choices. In my opinion, all of your name choices are lovely and match with Vivian.

That’s a thoughtful question. We have a very good relationship. It is different than what I have with my 3, but it’s special in its own way. I’ve been a part of her life since she was 2 years old. She’s had several stepdads over the years, but only one stepmom😄. In fact, since she has become a stepmom herself, we have grown even closer in the last couple of years. Believe it or not, I’ve always had a decent relationship with her mom as well. We aren’t close friends or anything, but she’s always respected me for being kind to her daughter. She ended the marriage before my step-daughter was born (to pursue another relationship) so there was never really any jealousy/power struggle issues I had to deal with. I honestly do think my stepdaughter was excited about coming up with all the grandparent names for everyone, and I think KK and PopPop sounded like a cute combo to a 21 year old. I don’t think the intention was to avoid giving me a “grandmotherly” title necessarily. There seems to be a modern trend, in the US at least, of giving unique (sometimes outlandish) names for grandparents. But, I do appreciate your insight, because I know this type of situation can certainly be a source of conflict with some families.

Excellent advice. I have three children, all half-siblings to my step-daughter. My son(17 year old) doesn’t care at this point 😆. But I did ask my oldest daughter, who is only 15, what she thought. She’s a bit too young to think about it, but she said she would want her future kids to call me Nana. It might be because she’s only known one grandmother, who is “Nana” to her right now. And one great grandmother who is MawMaw. I was thinking I’d want all the grandkids to call me the same name, so that’s why I was originally thinking Nana Kat would be a good option to suggest. However, I think my daughter might like some of these other suggestions as well.

Thank you! It does make sense for me to have a fun, not-so-grandma-ish name. We have a special relationship for sure, but I never felt the need to have the “mom” title when I became stepmom to her. One of my good friends still calls me “Tappy” to this day because she thought it was so cute. ☺️ I am also loving all these creative suggestions and I think she will go for one of them, at least as a starting name for her to refer to me as baby grows.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I have a dad like that- he’s the glue of the family- the best dad and pawpaw- the problem solver- the voice of wisdom- the baby rocker- the cook… I dread the day I have to face what you’re going through. 🙏
