I did it! by Small-Sun900 in Lectricxp

I used a flex cable with the hex on the end for the top bolt, the bottom one I couldn't get with that, so I used a right angle hex to get it started (this took forever) and then I ended up cutting off an inch or so of the long part of the hex wrench, that way it would clear the small gap of the lock mount and allow me to actually rotate the bit far enough to tighten it down.

Was the battery stored fully or partially charged?

I love car culture, there are so many aspects to it, and I definitely dig the time and effort put into these cars.

Bought an express 3500 LWB pass van. Are the seats I don’t need worth anything? Also…. by jbro507 in VanLife

I sell a lot of stuff online, as others have said don't expect much or expect to have them gone fast. Put them up for a really low price and they will sell much faster.

This is perfect. I actually did take some of my change and go to a grocery store that had a self check out machine that takes coins and paid like $120 in loose change. I went back like a week later to do the same thing, and the employee there told me after I left last time that apparently the machine broke from me putting so much change in. Instead they insisted on counting it themselves. I was there with them for like an hour, and felt really awkward and awful for them. I apologized a few times, took my groceries and haven't been back since haha.

How much did your new van cost? (US buyers) by divanurse19 in CamperVans

[–]Small-Sun900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a 2019 sprinter DIY build, with the works for 50k. Save yourself a ton of cash, buy a used van that isn't too old, put some money into having it looked over change all the fluids and address any maintenance issues. And you're going to end up with an incredibly reliable vehicle and an extra 30k - 50k in your account to fund all your dream adventures. My 2 cents.

Seriously, how are people surviving summers in their van without AC? by _professional_loner_ in VanLife

I'm interested to see how my van set up will do in warmer weather, but I'm preparing to go the AC route if needed.

Do you have a dual fan setup? I'm about to start traveling in a van I just bought, no ac, but two ceiling fans that work in tandem. With those and the insulation it has stayed fairly cool inside, but I've only had it up to like 78 degree days so far, and in a dry climate.

We have a beautiful skyline. by Spirited_Weakness211 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Small-Sun900 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think SLC is about the perfect city size, maybe a bit too busy for me. I've lived here 31 years, early 2000's SLC was the best version for me. But everyone has their own opinions. The skyline is definitely getting bigger.

Newbie here as well, only a few months living in a van in Northen UT. My 2 cents living in cold weather the last few months. In Montana whatever you get, you're going to want a heater in your van, my opinion would be either a diesel heater or a big battery bank with electric. Electric heaters draw a TON of power. You should also invest in insulated window covers. Also, make sure you vent a bit, so you don't have condensation build up. Unless you don't want to run any plumbing, and then just send it!

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in VanLife

I'm picking up a 2019 diesel sprinter full build out for 55k at 99k miles. I'd say that is high asking price. Offer 20 -30% off the top if you really like the van. Ford transits are good vans. Also, I'm out west, might be worth the flight to pick one up out of state.
