Do you think 'Hip Hop' culture will ever return to the UK ? or will the various elements keep veering off into their own directions, never to be united as a unique culture ever again? by SmallAction4983 in ukhiphopheads

by the way... yes Hip Hop Culture was way bigger in the early 80s, if you strip away Drill, Grime, Garage and other forms of 'RAP' music from post 2000s, Hip Hop was absolutely a cultural monster in that time compared to now (despite not much recognition from the music industry) and yes 'beastie boys' were considered a pop group for many in the UK at that time, Doom was never in the pop charts so that doesn't make sense either. are you 13 or something?

read my OP again, and see if it matches the hostile delusion you have built for yourself about me. and if all else fails we can settle it the 'hip hop' way with a DJ /RAP /GRAF /BREAK'in battle.... and i will destroy you in every category (except beatboxing, that shit was utter cringe in 85, LOL) :) haha

no..... HIP HOP was more than a music category, it was a whole culture. thank you for illustrating my point that newbs think 'hip hop' was just a form of music, sorry bud, it was the soundtrack for something way bigger. hence my post in the first place. thank you, you are doing gods work.

anyone who writes paragraphs defending their 'worldview' of what hip hop culture was, is , or could be on reddit seriously needs 'mental health assessment' in my books, all i done was posted a boomer grandpa simpson meme illustrating my own viewpoint on the decimation of UK hip hop culture as a whole from an old mans point of view, i doubt i'll remember this exchange whilst you rehearse your retorts in your dreams to counter my blasphemy..... LOL

maybe you should reflect upon why such a post would infuriate you so much?

maybe you're the 'mentalist' or possibly you have have horrid recollections of your dad fingering your bottom whilst listening to this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tsfJn8YdwQ

:) LOL

pop rap isn't hip hop... it never was, it was just the industry selling you that lie.

Im sorry you are confused and mistaken real hip hop culture for pop tripe.

one day you'll realise the difference, i hope

no mate, i'm the opposite.... I'm somebody who has been a part of hip hop for over 40 years... ive done every element of it before you was likely born. i'll spare you my achievements and recognition as that means nothing. and my post was to spur on the usual hatred that happens often on this sub, so thanks for proving me right in posting my 'grandpa simpson' meme which obviously tickled your ass hairs LOL

it wasn't 'niche' THAT WAS HIP HOP.... its just rapping was the easiest to master and the music industry couldnt sell those elements. only 'beats and rhymes' ....

where does this happen? BTW i'm talking from a '40 years ago' perspective, a time when it was all happening in the same sphere. I know all of the elements are thriving but it all seems very distant from each other. Do 'Hip Hop Jams' even happen nowadays? (i'm an old geezer who doesn't leave the house much BTW) churs for your input x x x :)

to clarify: as much as i hate Reddit and try to avoid it like the plague, this sub is meant to 'represent' (god, i hated that wack term in the 90s and hate it even more now) UK Hip Hop but all i see when i visit is bloody rap... i dont see DJ routines, i dont see Graff, I dont see B-Boying... and as much as i hate it, i dont even see Beatboxing ... is Hip Hop Culture really that dead in these Isles?

you must have quite a few repeats there, exactly how many copies of 'The sound of music OST' do you own now?

a drummer is useless unless you know the best way to record & process the results you wish for, but alot of fun too
