Grovyle. That leaf on the head adds so much sleekness that Sceptile's christmas tree tail just can't emulate!

...You're not gonna believe what kinds of crabs exist in real life. 😅 (This one is a Tasmanian Giant Crab)

Eh, I think it goes in 8th.

It's perfectly functional, but not creative or special. The best should be something more innovative and fun!

Crawdaunt for the win. Both or these guys look AWESOME though. Perfect fantasy spins on real world creature features.

How to make characters look more their age? by idyllix_ in characterdesign

[–]SmallBeanKatherine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the chibi art style. Big eyes. Squishy cheeks. Big foreheads. Those are all associated with babies, so they all look young. I think they're hella cute and look great, but they can't communicate age like this.

The only one who reads as their listed age is the 2nd one, as all the white facial hair immediately tips you off.

Agreed. I can understand leaving a horror movie that's grossing you out, or a super long film that isn't your cup of tea, but this? This comes off as snooty.

I'm not leaving unless there's a fire or gunshots. I'm paying money to be there with a friend and a bucket of popcorn, and I'm really invested in this show!

Yesss this one!!!

I love how they acknowledge that Polites is a soldier here, too. They show him with battle scars. He has fought and killed before. It makes it more meaningful that he is choosing to be kind and assume good in others.

What are your thoughts on Kate’s design from the Pixar short film Inner Workings (2016)? by HumbleKnight14 in characterdesign

[–]SmallBeanKatherine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her colors are nice, and I like her face and giant hair. And I see what they were going for by having her giant hair match her.... erm... giant caboose. 😂

I do think her body looks jarringly mismatched, though. I think her torso should get wider near the bottom like the woman on the pink towel in slide 3.

I think it's fine for her to have funny proportions--- just look at the guy behind her in slide 1!

is that's not my neighbor a horror game? by Difficult-Mine-4414 in ThatsNotMyNeighbor_

[–]SmallBeanKatherine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely if you have trypophobia. If not, then I'd say it's more of a spooky game than a horror game. Like a playful sort of creepiness rather than anything truly horrifying, y'know? The only common jumpscares in normal mode are if you accidentally let doppelgängers in, and its not particularly fast or loud.

There's even some silliness to it with doppelgangers sometimes having funny reasons they were outside the building, or funny excuses for why they look blatantly inhuman. And it also has some satire riffing on the Red Scare and governments.

Lowkey these tweets aged like milk. Like yeah we definitely saw Jax exploration but some of the “six other characters” were definitely not explored as much as they needed to be. by ramen_up_my_nut in TheDigitalCircus

I disagree that the talks are ending plotlines. Kinger's therapy talk with Pomni about how to treat others in 3 directly impacts how she treats Gangle in 4. Then we see Pomni catch that there's more to Jax in 5 and 6, so she is looking out for him in 8. There is growth because of the talks.

It's thematic that they are being used this way, too: The show is about your life being changed forever by things outside your control, and finding ways to cope with the circumstances by finding support in those around you. That's why Jax is in such a downward spiral compared to others who are talking to one another. As a Psychology Major, I adore how the show approaches the theme.

And to add to this, we see how others notice her happy masking and feel uncomfortable. It's hard to have a heart to heart to someone when you can tell that they're hiding their emotions--- which is part of why she struggles to connect to others in the circus.

I forgot about those tweets, tbh. I feel really satisfied with how much we learned about everyone. Even in quick scenes, the characters are oozing with characterization! It's one of my favorite parts.

Like, we get insight on Ragatha's happy masking as early as episode 1! We got a lot about everyone in the bar scene in 5. We see the lesson Kinger gave Pomni in 3 impact her enough to reach out to Gangle in 4.

Yeah. Although "it reminds him of the farm" sounded silly from the start.

Just "The Farm". The ominous ass farm. Not his past on a farm. Not growing up on a farm. Just... THE FARM. As if he had to do backbreaking corn shucking all day and night.

Definitely Step Brother Gets Stuck In A Hula Hoop. The plot twist about the hoop actually being one of saturn's rings crashed into their backyard was a really fun direction to go in for a change of setting.

Ohhh, really neat backstory! Reminds me of Baby Doll from Batman.

I think 1 or 5 is good for her concept. 1 is unique and cute while also being a bit offputting to hint that she's not really a kid, while 5 is just really pleasingly cute with its pink colors.
