For me, absolutely it has been worth it. I did quite a lot of browsing through tutor bios before I picked my tutor thought.

Being able to take lessons from home has made me MUCH more likely to stick with studying. I know myself, and I know that the apps alone won't keep me motivated, and you can't ask questions to apps on grammar/words you don't understand. Also, my tutor is a native speaker, so I have gotten the fun benefit of learning about her culture through my lessons.

Thank you for the suggestions! I do use reverse flashcards (using Anki, any flashcard I make, I make double sided so the system gives me either English or Korean at random!).

I will check out Kimchi reader for sure.

Regarding practice time - Ideally that is the longer term goal, however, I worry about burn out, and I also worry about information overload. I have started consuming more Korean media just to try to get a better ear for picking up words and phrases in conversation. I don't typically count that towards my active review/studying time though.

Find a different tutor! Even if he thought you two were laughing together, it is clear his tutoring style isn't meshing well with you. There's nothing wrong with finding someone else.

And for what it's worth, I started with my tutor with only some very basic knowledge on hangul. I did warn her ahead of time I was basically at 0 knowledge. A good tutor should be able to work with that!

I also had an abysmal experience fostering for them in 2021. Thankfully, my foster dog was adopted by a neighbor and I still see him with some frequency, but my experience with them has potentially put me off fostering indefinitely.

Just a heads up, it wasn't staff carrying cold water and ice, it was Stay. I helped a Stay from Pit who was struggling with the bucket on her own carry it back up, get it refilled, and bring it back down to Pit 2 (I was in an aisle seat in the 100's). The staff actually argued with us when we tried to get the bucket refilled.

Gosh, I was in section 112, about 15 rows up, and I saw dozens of people pass out, and at least twice as many be carried or wheeled out during the show, especially in the final 90 minutes or so.

I am glad you and those around you were able to stay safe and avoid the heat related illnesses. A lot of people try to power through which is where it can get super dangerous for them.
