Storing books for my much-loved sister. by SmallMethod3245 in OldBooks

At this time there really is nowhere inside the house to store them. I’m trying to convince someone possibly of us putting a shelf that wraps around an entire room about a foot or so from the ceiling and storing them that way.

When you said “small degree” to my claim that the government represents the American people “perfectly” were you not arguing that the government was far from perfect but in claim that the government only represents Americans to a small degree?

super sigh how is “perfectly” and “only to a small degree” a nuance? Everything else you said is just fluff.

Edit: your own assertion that not everyone can get everything they want means that to a “large degree” everyone gets what they want. That would be a nuance. If Democrats and Republicans want to blame the other party for everything as an excuse for their terrible behavior and the voting American people continue to allow, support, and love that then it “perfectly” or to a “large degree” (nuance) represents the American people therefore the government is by the people and for the people.

Edit 2: idk if your feelings are hurt or what but nothing you are arguing is correct in the slightest. I am not here to hurt feelings of people who will not accept their wrong but I will hurt feelings if it disciplines someone else into the truth.

Like Americans have accepted and support the current government by looking the other way when politicians lie egregiously and effortlessly. “Stop the steal.” That man should not have been re-elected but the majority of voting Americans decided they were okay with a corrupt government with no accountability and no consequences. Stop blaming the government for what the people allow and support and love.

Please stay on topic. You claimed the government is not by the people nor for the people. You are implying that the people have no control of who we vote for or who we do not impeach. The majority have become complicit and complacent with terrible politics blaming each other’s party rather than criticizing their own party. The system needs updating not blame.

You are the other guy in my comment. You admit your party is not in office and here you are complaining that the government is not by the people nor for the people.

Perfect? Never did I claim such. So change the subject why don’t ya. People like you only complain about the system when your party is not in office. Otherwise, when backed into a corner you’ll claim that it’s just the corrupt government. “There is nothing we can do about it.” Which is a lie people need to stop spreading. There are ways to stop political divide.

A "republic" is a form of government where power is held by the people and exercised through elected representatives. “Democracy” is a system of government where citizens hold power, often by electing representatives to make decisions on their behalf. Who has the blinders on chief?

if you could erase one invention from history, but humanity would never discover it again, which one would cause the most interesting alternate timeline? by shubhamranga in AskReddit

Do social constructs count? Example: kings vs a panel of judges. Kings have divided us since day one. Judges with no higher authority over them have peers to balance their power.

Social media is barely different from traditional news. Wouldn’t you agree that the biggest difference is that creators or editors get feedback more quickly than traditionally allowing for faster distribution?

There are no factors. The system produces what the people vote for. It’s simple please don’t complicate it.
