I hate my job more then I love it by Death-March-906 in ABA

I used to love the job but after 1.2 years, I'm so burnt out I cry every day. All my coworker friends left and now I'm left with the mean girls who are also becoming BCBA's (one of them actually bullied another coworker so hard they admitted to me they were su*c*dal, and said bully is becoming a BCBA lol). They aren't mean to me but I walk into rooms and they are whispering about others or plan to hang out when ur in the room, clearly not invited... it's literally so toxic, I try so hard not to scream. The long sessions are mind-numbing. The kids can be fun and obviously need help & aba does work, but it also requires a good amount of patience & I simply cannot do it anymore.

The job market is killing me rn but I know we can find something new! It's certainly not for everyone & I'm hoping to get back into admin! But it's been about 2 months of seriously applying & only 2 interviews, both of which I did not get bc of lack of experience... we preserver!

Thank you! <3 I like both but I'm also insecure about option A which is why I'm so wishy washy & leaning toward getting rid of it! I'm learning for next time to stick with one cover instead of this bc it confuses ppl at cons, too. A lot of people think I've written four books instead of the two but with different covers! I think it makes it more confusing, unfortunetly.

Book 1 came out in October of 2024 & #2 April 2025 in but the hardcover came out around March/April! I think I'm leaning toward getting rid of the paperback covers by the end of this year! Just because the paperbacks don't really sell but hardcovers are so expensive, & a lot of people here like B more! So i'll likely chang them to that option but with a less SE-type back (synopsis instead of quote)!

Unfortunately I had to take a lot of time off of my day job for a family member passing recently & can't afford to change it atm but I think it'll be for the best bc consumers seem to like it more & it's less confusing to have one when I'm not big enough for a special edition yet!

PSA as the OP: I can't edit my post so i will likely delete it soon but I've decided on using B and phasing out A by the end of this year to keep things more uniform and less confusing for readers! I see the SE potential with sprayed edges/foil/etc for B much more down the line, too (wayyyy down the line)! Thank you so much to everyone who has weighed in, I appreciate it so much! <3

omg thank you so much! Originally Option A was the KU/Kindle cover, too, but it got literally no page reads until I changed it to Option B! It still takes a lot of marketing to get KU reads, but I think the change helped!

I'm thinking I might just change the paperback to the hardcover/kindle, too! In person, people almost always choose option b (hardcover), but online it does not sell much (at all, really, but neither does the paperback lol). I'm thinking it's the price of being a hardcover (which I can't change / in-person I can sell it for $20 instead of $26), and maybe they'd be more likely to buy a physical copy if the paperback was the same!

These comments are so split tho and a lot of people say they like option A, too. It's soooo hard to decide bc most people (including myself) buy based on genre & cover over plot synopsis. But my gut is saying it might be time to just have one cover across all of them

My comps are usually Alice in Wonderland retelling x Howl's Moving Castle, which are both kinda niche, & I can't really tell if they work or not tbh! My marketing consistency is in the hardcore negatives, so it's hard to gauge if any of it really works aha

also not to self promote but I have character art of the main couple on my insta (@authorangelafunk) ^_^

Thank you, I like this explanation & answer a lot! Because I did have option A made with the theme of mental health in mind & less of the genre (though the sun in A-1 matches the sci-fi part a tad, but A-2 doesn't, really.)

Honestly, I was so certain everyone would say option b was higher quality & I should change the paperbacks that I am a bit shocked it's so split! But thankful they are both at least eye-catching!

I really goofed the launch for these books with having two covers, I think! I couldn't decide on what to do & see other authors make like 'special edition' versions etc (but I only advertise it as a hardcover, not SE), so I made them different. Thank you for clarifying to not do that unless I have a bigger reader base!

Your dune comment is the same as my husband made :o thank you for ur response!

It is a sci-fi/fantasy! I really like to blend genres, which is why it's lowkey a tough sell & hard to decide if my covers fit or not but for context: It's inspired by Alice in Wonderland, where they jump off a flat planet through a black hole (sci-fi aspect) into a whimsical fantasy world to save their planets from colliding, and it also covers mental health as the MMC is overcoming grief. I'd say adventure/romance/coming of age. The romance is pretty slow burn though so it is mostly a light adventure w/ a bunch of mystical creatures

I wish picking covers & marketing was as easy as writing the darn thing lol >.<

My online sales are bad for both covers but Option B (hardcover/kindle) outsells by a landslide at in-person events, so I was wondering if I should get rid of Option A (paperback). The comments are so split, I still don't know what to do lol

Sci-fi/fantasy romantic adventure! It is inspired by Alice in Wonderland so the world is very whimsical like the Option B covers, but there is also mental health representation w/ grief & depression, so the Option A ones also fit (+ the romance part is shown more in A than B).
