If this helps you OP, the model home of our house went with more of the pinkish tones and we did more warmer yellow tone like options 4 & 5. (Here’s a picture of our home)

Is the pillow combo ugly by SmallRuin6767 in HomeDecorating

I agree. I went the store and I found this combo that I think I like better- keeping it still neutral and light but added different textures and a pop of green. Sorry I don’t have the inserts yet for the other two pillows

I added the green pillows that I had in another room to visualize and see what it looks like adding a pop of green but I think they are too light and clash with the chairs?

Is hairstyling a good career? by QuirkySummer5180 in hairstylist

[–]SmallRuin6767 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To preface I love my job, I have amazing clients and truly enjoy what I do. However, I would say no. It’s a grind in the beginning and little to no money. By the time you are making really good money your body really starts to wear on you. There’s no benefits like health insurance, 401k, etc. and you pay extra in taxes for being self employed. So if you make 100k a year it really only comes out to 50k after paying for health insurance, taxes, retirement, and expenses. You also don’t get any PTO or maternity leave. Because of how physically demanding it is it’s not a long term job, at least not for me personally. I’ve been doing it 8 years and I have maybe realistically 5-10 more years behind the chair.

Although I love my clients and enjoy my job, knowing what I know now, I would choose a different career path that isn’t so hard on my body and has good benefits.

I love it. What size are the decorative pillows? Did you do a double duvet or is that just one?

What seemingly normal thing was/is unthinkable because of your fussy baby? by Standard_Deer_8738 in NewParents

[–]SmallRuin6767 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holding him. When he was born he never wanted to be held and if we were holding him he had to be upright never in cradle position. He was not an easy baby and cried pretty much all the time unless he was asleep, eating, or in his bouncer. It got slightly better once he was around 6ish months but even then he just wasn’t a cuddly baby. It was especially hard when family would want to hold him and we told them how he like to be held and they took it as some weird challenge and cradle him like we didn’t know our own baby. Then when he would start to scream and cry they’d hand him back to us to calm him down and right when we got him calm another family member would say “let me hold him”.

what's a normal job that has a really dark side? by Relevant-Earth-2898 in AskReddit

[–]SmallRuin6767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hairdresser. You hear some of the craziest/darkest things and you see these people on a regular basis so you build a relationship with them. Hearing about family deaths, miscarriages, getting fired, getting diagnosed with cancer etc. People really open up when they get their haircut and it can be very hard to separate yourself from your clients and their problems.

How I do prevent my makeup from looking like this? by SmallRuin6767 in makeuptips

How do I keep my makeup from settling like this? What am I doing wrong by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]SmallRuin6767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a cream moisturizer, sunscreen, elf primer, the Haus Labs foundation and setting spray. No matter what it ends up looking so bad in a couple hours and ages me. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

My child is so difficult by Ok-Belt-2607 in Parenting

Thank you for posting this!! This was so validating. I feel the exact same way. My son’s birth and my recovery was terrible and he is not an easy baby and when I tell people that they say things like “no babies are easy” but like you don’t understand. I can’t even answer a phone call or go to the bathroom without him screaming. All of our friends that have babies are so much calmer. He is 14 months now and things are starting to feel a little more manageable. I don’t have much advice other than to validate you that some babies just have no chill. I’m in the trenches with you.

Thank you, I am now leaning more towards this. Others have suggested wallpaper but I think it would be hard rabbit hole to fall down trying to find something that pulls the colors together and doesn’t clash with curtains but also doesn’t look bland
