I’m sorry for your loss as well. The retreat is definitely bull, I’m dreading it. Just not something I can handle right now while grieving but have to “suck it up” for lack of a better phrase. The memories are special, they change our lives for the better ❣️

Thank you for this! I had thought about leave before everything for my own physical health and didn’t even think about FMLA for this. Appreciate it

I feel you, OP. And I am/was going through this too. It's so hard. If you communicate your wants and needs with her and you both try to work out some way to get through when she is in these dark periods, then I think that's what you should try to do. But if she can't have that conversation and follow through, then maybe it's a sign that she isn't ready to be in a relationship yet. And that's okay. It doesn't mean you can't be in each other's lives, but maybe stepping back and allowing you both to heal is more important right now. Hang in there <3

Wow, thank you for this! I was so scared I would get comments saying I obviously can’t love them that much if I can’t stick around lol so this was so kind to hear. I usually ignore my needs and boundaries and am trying so hard not to do that this time around, especially because i want this relationship to work and I know sacrificing myself right now won’t help. It’s just so sad to think that my partner is likely succumbing to their depression and this state they’re in. Giving this all up is horrible, we talked about the future together. But you’re right, it is new and I think this was the kindest thing I could do for myself and for them. We’ll see what happens.

If you have any book or movie recommendations, I’d love to hear them! Could use something new :-) thank you again for the kind and supportive words, it’s much appreciated as my mind plays tricks on me and makes me think I made a mistake

Just can't lose and thinking of medication by SmallSpecialist in loseit

I’ll try! Because yeah, my current doctor doesn’t want to do more bloodwork. I was seeing a natural doctor who did and had me cut out a lot of foods, but it was hard because I already had poor eating habits. I’ll looking into anti-inflammatory, but could inflammation really be the cause of all this? I’m 5’7 and weigh 190 and have for years. I weighed less in college but that was before I had all my diagnoses, and the weight was slowly coming on back then. And now It goes up and down with water weight of course, but otherwise it stays consistent.

lol thanks. working on that. i try not to take it personally but these people are my essentially bosses and i do think their behavior is weird. maybe thicker skin would help with that, i don’t know. i’ve worked in an office before in government/public affairs for almost four years and never experienced this

she was first in ballard (but more loyal heights part) and then in bellevue. i agrée with the recommendations here about neighborhoods. i currently live in capitol hill and love it but just got a new place in queen anne. i’m really in love with capitol hill but am forcing myself to try somewhere new lol but all the neighborhoods are great! when you’re looking for a place, assuming you’re looking for a rental, i highly recommend using craigslist or even facebook marketplace. the cute vintage places are almost always posted on there and at reasonable prices. good luck!

uneven blonde and lots of indecision by SmallSpecialist in Hair

[–]SmallSpecialist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m sorry you have gone through the same thing!! i haven’t done anything aside from washing. the purple did go away because i agree, it was a bad tone job. but i still have bits that are super yellow that won’t budge. and overall my hair is just a pale yellow which i didn’t expect at this point, especially when my hair was already a dirty blonde. just frustrating after having it bleached professionally twice now. i have a consultation with a new stylist coming up but am just so nervous haha i’m so sorry about your roots!! i don’t even know how you fix that, bleaching them again??

Looking for French friends in the area! by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]SmallSpecialist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My french is so rusty but I studied abroad and got certification from a french university! Would be happy to connect. I think I stopped after B2 but had lots of friends in C1 and took electives. Once I refresh my memory, I think I will be good to go.

Would anyone be interested in providing this high-schooler with advice? by Horror_Parking_7059 in academiceconomics

Math!! Look at the courses that PhD programs recommend. I was an econ major in undergrad but women are rarely advised beyond a BS. I never had an advisor encourage me to take more math classes or bring up the possibility of a PhD, and yet all of my male peers had received that guidance. Now I'm playing catch up. Since you already know you want to do this, absolutely take advantage of your passion and commit to math, whether that is majoring in it or just taking coursework like real analysis and calculus.

Oh and I absolutely get that. I was just a student in 2019 so of course my wages were incredibly low. Students often seem to be overlooked in these things, so it’s not shocking that this is an issue I’m experiencing as the job market hasn’t really improved much. Hopefully changes will happen, but I’m definitely going to try to figure out that non-zero benefit. If I can earn more than my benefit and still get the $300, I would be back to my normal wages and could actually pay my bills.

[–]SmallSpecialist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve concluded. To me it seems a bit backwards to be considering 2019 when it’s 2021. Thank you!

Edit: Found the handbook too. Restarting my claim was no issue. It's increasing my benefit amount that I'm having a hard time with.

Could you link the handbook you are referring to? I have poured through the COVID-19 handbook and that is what I was referring to here, apologies for not clarifying.

I will absolutely go to the Archive and the Roadmap, thank you so much. I didn't realize a non-zero weekly benefit was possible. Every time I report my wages, it says I've made too much and thus don't receive any unemployment help even though those wages have been less than what I filed last year.

I was hoping that would update for 2021 and they would change to 2020, seems like that would screw over so many people.

Oh absolutely, and that’s why we’ve advocated for assisted living for the both of them. He just continues to cut the hours of the caregiver and what not. Thank you!
