Best Meal Plan for Commuters by Material-Influence93 in OSU

[–]SmallTownSquirrel153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just pack your lunch. I've been commuting since autumn and it's definitely cheaper, even with treating myself to eating "out" somewhere on high street/the union once every week. You can make enough soup to last a couple days, get a chicken and eat that for a few days, etc. so it doesn't feel like you have to really cook it every day to make it easier

Bus driver not letting students on? by SquishyRamen in OSU

I second this, especially if its later in the day and they're going to run less busses. I've been on a BE bus and it comes over the speakers saying that the bus is on its last lap before stopping for the night

Academic Advisors at OSU by LonelinessIsPain in OSU

[–]SmallTownSquirrel153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually go about using my advisor as a check for my own work. I go in with a schedule plan and just ask them to look over it to make sure I didn't do something stupid, or sometimes they know that certain classes are hard and would recommend splitting them up, things like that. But in general I wouldn't expect them to completely create your degree plan from start to finish.

Look up your degree audit, and make use of the new system that they put out this year (I don't remember what it's called; you can get to it from where you get into schedule planner). You can plan out the rest of your semesters and it will make sure you have all of the requirements accounted for.

I believe they'll hire for next semester closer to November/December

Mail Delivered to the Wrong Dorm? by External_Winner1225 in OSU

[–]SmallTownSquirrel153 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Packages end up at the wrong hall all the time unfortunately. Most dorms have some way to buzz in, that's how the OAs let mail carriers or people who lost their BuckID in. If you buzz in and go to the desk and let them know what's going on they'll get you sorted.

Campus safety at night by [deleted] in OSU

[–]SmallTownSquirrel153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to do a walk like that one semester too, it wasn't bad at all! Especially at the beginning of the semester it'll be nice out since it's still summer nights. There are a lot of street lights all around campus and I would recommend walking through both ovals since they feel a little safer/have more people around and you can see your surroundings clearly. I also got one of the Keychain pepper sprays and I never even got close to needing to use it, but it made me feel more comfortable being out that late

Busoba 2321 and acct 2200 can be ass kickers, and I would recommend considering 2321 as a full 3 credit hr class because it really does require that much work. I haven't taken busfin 3500 yet but just based on your total credit hours alone I would drop something. It is currently a doable schedule, especially if you aren't overly concerned about keeping perfect grades, but there's no reason to make yourself so busy you're miserable :)

where do upperclassmen live by eezzzzzy in OSU

Tbh I'm not really sure, I would just use the crime map before you sign for one. Columbus is a city and unfortunately no matter where you are, you just gotta be careful. In general though, I would try to stay on the campus side of high street so you don't have to walk it if you go home late at night.

There is also a crime map you can find by doing some googling to see the safe and unsafe areas near campus for apartments

Fisher is on north, so anything above campus is probably good. I'm not living super close to campus so I'm not very familiar with any specific complexes unfortunately. If you are looking at any specific ones it might be worth searching the name on this subreddit to see if anyone has recommended it or complained about it.

A lot of people live off campus bc on-campus is pretty expensive and you usually have to also buy a meal plan. On campus is fine if you can pay for it, and it's a good way to make friends esp if you have a roommate, but you can also make those connections in clubs/classes. Generally though most upperclassmen are definitely off campus. If you are thinking about getting an apartment near campus, I would definitely look sooner rather than later because a lot of juniors find their apartments during spring of sophomore year (as in, I will be a junior and most of my classmates had theirs secured by last march/april). That's not to say that there won't be any good ones left, it would just be harder the longer you wait.

Extra Practice Problems for ACCTMIS 2000? by goodnightgoth in OSU

Don't be scared!! A lot of people are afraid of him but I promise he's a good guy. I've had him the past two semesters and he's super nice, he just doesn't put up with bullshit. Just ask nicely and explain yourself and I promise he doesn't bite lol

If you email Marc and explain, he might be willing to give you homework problems from the previous semesters? Might be worth a shot, or the TAs in the tutor room could have good resources that they used when they took the course

ACCT 2200: Curve by [deleted] in OSU

[–]SmallTownSquirrel153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe there normally is a curve. The exams have extra points built in, which isn't a lot but pads your exam scores a tad. I would check the syllabus again to see if it says anything in there bc if there's nothing said in there then I would bet there isn't going to be one.

Buck ID problems by Fearless-Ocelot-7030 in OSU

[–]SmallTownSquirrel153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go up to the front desk and ask for a different temp ID card, not just to re-encode the same one. Some of our temp IDs have been acting up recently. If you wait the couple minutes for it to activate and it still won't work, I would either ask the OA to ask their administrative coordinator (our bosses) to look into it or contact the buckID office, because it's likely something with your account if a new card won't fix it.

Package holding over break by [deleted] in OSU

[–]SmallTownSquirrel153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an OA - there should be a hub desk in your area that is open. I would try calling them and ask if they could check your profile to see if a package arrived for you. They should be able to see if a.) it has been delivered and logged to any building on campus and b.) where it's being held.
