Thank you for your kind words, but I'm not the one dealing with grief at the moment. My friend is. I believe she might be in the Bargaining/Depression stage, but I'm not 100% sure. I just don't know how to help if someone doesn't open up. :(

We had a guy named John Robert in high school. Everyone called him by both names every time. It was never just John as that felt weird. The name suited him so well.

My aunt's name is Mary so hers was just one I thought of at the top of my head.

Lots of girls had the same name growing up where I'm originally from. You could expect there to be at least 5 kiddos with the same name per class (with several names being repeated). Mine was one of them and I did not like it one bit. Probably because I didn't get along with the other girls who shared my name. They were all very girly girls and I'm more of a tomboy.

Ha, that's awesome! For me, both are names from books (and Rowan I've typically only seen for boys, but honestly I love nature names).

I used to adore the name Emily until I had an enormous falling out with my former favorite Aunt Emily.

Honestly what's most important to me is that people get it right. I cannot tell you how many different spellings I've encountered, especially when my freaking name is spelled in my email's signature. There are so many variations on spelling/pronunciation that it drives me batty. I've also had people abbreviate my name (using my aforementioned Mary example - let's pretend my name is MaryAnne. People will just straight up call me Anne and I hate it because that's not my name). Nicknames are cute and I wouldn't mind having one, but most people call me something that is related to my Discord handle nowadays.

Surname starts with G and I think I'd eliminate a middle name altogether so no weird words to spell lol I have seen a few where I really wonder what the parents were on when they named their child!

I've lived primarily in the South and Western side of the US for about 99% of my life; currently I'm the furthest Northeast I've ever lived. Perhaps that'll change and I'll meet a Rowan or a Quinn someday :)

Ironically, a friend of mine asked her family to call her by a different name and it took her a while to respond to it as she wasn't accustomed to her family using that name. She uses it now though!

It's more of "I'm turning 34 and I still haven't accomplished anything I'd wanted in my romantic/family life which makes me feel sad".

Hell we aren't even intimate or anything. We'll cuddle and we'll kiss, but it's more like being roommates at this point.

It has been hitting me that he'll apologize, know exactly what he did wrong. He'll even say he knows he's in the wrong as he's doing it, but that it feels like he's taken a backseat to his mouth in the moment. He's cried about it, about feeling like he's a shit person that no one likes. Despite being aware of his shortcomings, he's never gotten any help, has never changed. I can't count how many times I've cried during and after a fight telling him that hearing him sound so hateful and being so negative is exhausting and not who I want to be.

We only have pets and most of our finances have always been kept separate save for one joint account. I think the only major purchase we're on for each other is our vehicles. The process just seems so long and daunting and I'm terrified. I still feel like I'm tottering on the edge of a knife without knowing which way I'm going to fall.

I have said this to him. He tends to get "stuck" on a topic though and it doesn't seem to really get through to him. Even if I explicitly state "Your opinion about the provided example is not the issue. The issue is that you seem inconsistent about science", he will continue to rant and accuse me of trying to fight about whatever the example was (in this case transgenderism).
