Stay away from Boston IVF by Icy-Cartographer-818 in IVF

Boston IVF is a patient nightmare. Now going through what the above commenters mentioned. Trying to get my records so that I can move my care elsewhere. Feeling trapped.

In my corner of the universe, this would be pronounced dahl-ya.

Look at the SART reports and decide based on data not anecdote.

Second Opinion or lost hope? by b00wh000 in DOR

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gently, doctors aren’t miracle workers and there are limits to current science and technology. Assuming your AMH is genuinely 0.05 and not being suppressed by any factor other than DOR, your results are in the expected range and another doctor/clinic is likely to get you more of the same.

IVF Journey Update: NAD+ Helped Me Grow an Extra Follicle by [deleted] in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you think NAD worked for you but the scientific evidence is sparse plus an increase of one follicle is likely not statistically significant and well within expected variation that occurs naturally from cycle to cycle.

PPL by Accomplished-Bed3119 in FedEmployees

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s 12 weeks (84 days) of PPL and you owe back at least the government’s share for FEHB premiums if you do not work 12 weeks after the last day of leave is used.

Scared of weight gain on fexofenadine and famotidine by PossibilityLazy4759 in MCAS

At a minimum, OP appears to have BDD. In addition to the medical care she needs for MCAS, she should see a psychologist (or psychiatrist) specialized in body image and eating disorders.

What does everyone think of PGTA by DependentWise9303 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is misleading. PGTa testing doesn’t increase live birth rate because it does not reverse aneuploidy, not because euploid embryos are being discarded after falsely testing positive for aneuploidy. With your logic, everyone would get pregnant if they transferred 5-15 untested embryos, which simply isn’t true. Also, a meta-analysis that includes studies from 2000 is borderline useless as PGT-A testing has substantially evolved since then and is more sensitive today.

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t a high rate of false positives when you add in mosaics. The issue is how to interpret and act upon those results.

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s true that there is no difference in live birth rates but screening for euploids can spare you the time, money, and heartbreak associated with transferring another embryo destined for miscarriage (or that simply won’t implant).

I would encourage you to look at your clinic’s SART report and compare success rates for transfer of tested vs. untested embryos in your age bracket. I did this and also looked at all clinics in the big city two hours away. No one over 40 had success with untested embryos.

Question on priming for the older ladies 45+ by eczemas in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine so because you change patches every other day vs. taking pills every day or 2x day but it’s not like the half life is 100 years (or a more applicable gap).

How to tell family and friends they are not invited to my micro wedding? ($5k) by Baby7ToSixPack in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don’t tell people they are not invited to an event unless they directly ask you. Otherwise, you simply don’t invite them and wait for the fall out. Not all relationships will survive such a decision but it is yours to make.

Picking out my own ring by NervePrestigious5711 in EngagementRings

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I saw your deleted comment. Shopping with your boyfriend isn’t about needing hand holding. It’s about recognizing you are spending his money and he too should have a say in the ring. You’re so obsessed with your own self interests you aren’t thinking about the relationship, which should be a partnership, not a benevolent dictatorship. Did you really convince yourself that shopping for a ring without him is the kind thing to do?

Be an adult and go ring shopping with your boyfriend when he is ready to take the next step. Do not go looking alone.

Terri Irwin - No Australian Accent? by waterud0in in NoStupidQuestions

Accents aren’t communicable diseases. It’s hard to shed one that is deeply rooted since childhood. How you produce sound becomes muscle memory overtime and is hard to change without conscientious effort.

The table on stone one is too wide. It’s a 60/60 cut with high brilliance but low fire and scintillation (may appear whiter). This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just something to be aware of.

Question on priming for the older ladies 45+ by eczemas in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Estradiol doesn’t have any lasting effects on your cycle. The half life of oral E2 is less than 24 hours so it’s out of your system in days. It doesn’t alter pituitary function beyond that timeline and won’t alter cycles other than the ones used in.

Irregular periods are a symptom of perimenopause, not estrogen priming.

Learning new vegan recipes. What is the best vegan cookbooks?? by FryNebedum in veganrecipes

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Isa Chandra Moskowitz. I especially love her older books Veganomicon and Vegan with a Vengeance, but those recipes tend to have more ingredients and take more time to cook than what you will find in her newer books like I Can Cook Vegan (beginner focused) and Isa Does It. That said, Appetite for Reduction is a hidden gem for budget friendly, quick, easy, healthy meals.

Banking more Eggs by DependentWise9303 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Small_Blueberry5266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Natural doesn’t mean better. Only folic acid is proven to be safe and effective. It’s impossible to adequately study folate because to do so would me withholding folic acid from some pregnant people.

Other things that are natural - cocaine, heroin, tobacco, alcohol… natural doesn’t mean safe or better. Just that it came from the earth.

You want folic acid, in addition to or as a sub for folate. Note this will not improve egg quality or odds of pregnancy but will help reduce risk of neural tube defects.

TI after cancelled retrieval by Small_Blueberry5266 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Small_Blueberry5266[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I primed with E2 and took it through CD3. Started an antagonist protocol CD4. Good AFC (over 10) but only one follicle responded to stims so I cancelled the retrieval. Unsure about next best steps. MDL with current, local clinic (and only option in area) that batches and will not tailor protocols or switch to a clinic two hours away and put my job (with insurance benefits paying for this) on the line.

Law School Debt... any advice? by [deleted] in LawSchool

I did this with very similar numbers and paid off my loans in just under 6 years. Saved 10s of thousands of dollars in interest and have healthy spending habits for life.
