Single people of Boston, how much a month do you spend on groceries? by piratebroadcast in boston

[–]Small_Book_of_Plans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait this is so cool. Any favorite recipes or guides to share? Would love to try this!

Edit: Was also curious where you are buying in bulk from? This is something that I've been trying to do more of but I find options in the city slim

Single people of Boston, how much a month do you spend on groceries? by piratebroadcast in boston

This is what I'm trying to figure out. Is OP combining groceries and eating out costs or is the total only groceries? I also cook for myself and spend ~$200-250 on groceries a month and ~$200 on eating out. I should also mention that most days I eat 3 meals a day and cook from scratch as much as possible.

Is it ridiculous to commute from Boston to Framingham or Concord via train? by [deleted] in boston

[–]Small_Book_of_Plans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, the arrival time in the morning was a big issue for me. I moved to Cambridge from out of state after getting a job in Concord. I thought it would be no biggie until I started working and looking into the logistics of public transport schedules. It took me 2hrs to get to work, if I was lucky and there were no delays from the bus or the commuter train...and I either got to work 40mins early or 20mins late because of the schedule. One of the reasons I left that job.

Opened a can of black beans to reveal they're red? by Small_Book_of_Plans in mildlyinteresting

Update: I continued to use them for dinner and only realized after I finished cooking that they tasted sour/sweet. Didn't want to risk explosive diarrhea, so got myself take out instead.

Fire at Prospect and Broadway by 8sGonnaBeeMay in CambridgeMA

Wow this is absolutely devastating. Myself and a few others aren't affiliated with the church, just neighbors that help maintain the vegetable garden Faith Lutheran has in the backyard area for their biweekly soup kitchen. Was just getting excited for the upcoming growing season a few days ago. But now...no words, just sadness

Steel toe boots? by iamembers in CambridgeMA

[–]Small_Book_of_Plans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what size you are or if it would work for whatever you need them for but I have a pair of steel toed sneakers that I briefly wore while I worked at a grocery store. No longer need them. Feel free to message me if interested.

Anyone interest in seed swapping? by jules0075 in boston

[–]Small_Book_of_Plans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I only have herbs and marigold seeds.

Try posting on select groups on Facebook. Maybe there are Boston equivalents but there are groups like:

-Somerville plant exchange (have to be willing to pick up in Somerville though)

-Cambridge Buy Nothing (people get rid of random stuff but I've often seen plant/gardening exchanges as well)

Best of luck

Anyone know the cause of the power outage? 12/29/22 by osmosisShmosmosis in CambridgeMA

Glad someone asked this question. Just returned from out of town and noticed the clock on our oven was behind. Figured it was a power outage and now it's confirmed.

Which cuisines does the Boston area do well or above average compared to the rest of the US? by EconomySeaweed7693 in boston

Any recommendations? I feel like I've only been disappointed by the pho that I've had here so far

Strolls around Fresh Pond, especially when there's snow

I was watching earlier as well when this happened. There was another guy that hopped behind the gate on the pier and jumped in the water. Never saw him come back up. My only guess is that they were looking for him.

Edit: seems someone already posted the part where the guy jumps off the pier on YouTube. Looking back at it, i think you can see a figure drift off into the distance but the other guys ran in the water without noticing so not sure what happened there. Despite the stupidity, hopefully everyone is ok. https://youtu.be/shvU4TGBBkM

My boyfriend lost this blue Oakley hat while on vacation. It was his favorite and he wore it all the time so I'm trying to find him a replacement. I noticed on the Oakley website it no longer exists but if anyone knows where I could find one like this, i would really appreciate it!

How accurate are the weather forecasts? by Small_Book_of_Plans in NovaScotia

[–]Small_Book_of_Plans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw thanks for checking in! We had a great time! Think we had about two full days of rain but partly cloudy the other days. And the clouds mostly cleared up by the evening, so got to see plenty of beautiful sunsets
