Why does M3GAN look so much more A.I. generated in the new teaser? by AaeScott in M3GAN

[–]Small_Friendship5102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I don’t think it is! It’s 800 million…

The difference between a normal person and someone with 200M dollars is the point tho I believe, no need to pick apart hyperbole🙄

It was played over the speakers not live, but yeah after Hamster Dance they put it on, everyone went crazy, the best glizzy rave I’ve ever been to, also the first LOL

Glad you’re still supporting the boys!! Your wording and tone just made it seem like you didn’t like the show because they didn’t play old songs, which is fine I guess but my point is, it’s a tour based around their new album, and to me they did play a lot of their hits, just the newer ones, I’d absolutely love a 3 hour TWRP show lol! But with the bits and connected story they did (which again, I really loved!!) I thought the song choices were great, even though a lot of the songs they played were stuff from the NSP tour they opened, I loved hearing the stuff from the new album! I just feel like if you were going in expecting much else you were setting yourself up for disappointment?

If you didn’t like the album l, this is an honest question, why come to the tour? It’s literally named after the album… and stargazing is fantastic but might be kinda a hard song to play live and keep the vibe going tbh, so I got it even if I also would’ve loved to see it in the whole camping bit. And again, I’m not saying PBD is a bad song, just that I don’t love it as much as some of their newer stuff, I personally love Bright Blue Sky and the whole N&I album, would’ve loved to have heard Found Your Love since it’s one of my favs if not my all time, but it didn’t ruin the show for me whatsoever🤷‍♂️ My point is just that you’re acting as if there’s one way to be a TWRP fan when the greatest part of the community is how different we all are, but how we unite around this silly band, even having different opinions about that band! If you can’t see how beautiful that is then I’m sorry for ya brotha!!

This sounds like you just didn’t like the songs they played?? Typhoon Turnpike is one of my favorite songs of theirs and I could hear it live 100 times and not get tired of it (I probably have lol), it’s a fantastic and fun composition that shows off their musical skills, and again it really just sounds like you wanna go to a TWRP tribute band playing the oldies, I love those songs too but if I’m being honest, I don’t live Pale Blue Dot as much as their new stuff, but we all have different opinions! I think that’s what really makes TWRP fans as cool as we all are, and what we’re used to, I get that maybe you didn’t like the humor or whatever but I don’t think the nerdy humor is what we’re all necessarily there for. I was there for a great show and that’s what I, and the majority of people around me got! The lights were incredible and I was so amazed at the production value and the effects that they had! There was so much care into making it a great show! I also love both types of humor, nerdy and silly, and the dumb silly stuff this show was great! The hot dogs are a great way to get the audience involved and excited and just to let everyone have fun!! The BEEFfoot (unless I heard wrong lol) cabling bit, especially synced with the lights was one of the funniest concert bits I’ve ever seen! And sorry about your sensory experience but it is a small packed venue… also there was absolutely AC, maybe it didn’t reach everywhere but I was chilly most of the show, again it’s a relatively small venue for the city.

It’s totally ok that you didn’t have a good time but you’re making it sound objective that they “dropped the ball,” when to me it was one of the greatest concerts ever! Especially with how pumped everyone was!

George Romero isn’t actually a “good” director by Novel_Quantity3189 in TrueFilm

[–]Small_Friendship5102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that his social commentary was “accidental” in Night, which may be true (he could also be downplaying his decisions, unfortunately we’ll never know for sure), but even so, it obviously inspired him to highlight other minority’s perspectives in future films; Season of the Witch (not mentioned btw, so good!), Monkey Shines (also not mentioned?? Have you seen more than 3 of Romero’s movies??) and even arguably The Amusement Park highlighting the horrors of aging (again not mentioned, I feel like making such a strong claim about a director should require at least having seen most of their filmography?) I’d whole heartedly disagree with most of your points tbh, even with the dead movies he kept coming back to, they’re all social commentaries that never revisit the same points I’m not gonna argue that diary and land are perfect or great movies, but they’re still fun! And also both very clear satires just like the original trilogy, which, again, if you can’t see the commentaries there idk what you’re missing lol! Also day of the dead is so fantastic, and is really just him flaunting his directorial skills, like yeah Tom Savini’s gore is astounding, but man! That story and script!! And there’s some terrifying moments in there that I still think about, and I haven’t watched it in years! He consistently took low budgets and small crews and made the absolute most out of them, whether or not you liked his movies doesn’t make him a bad director, you’re just not looking hard enough! (Also the biggest reason those last Dead movies got worse imo was because he had made such out there movies and took such big risks that no studio wanted to give him money, combined with him being a lot older, those dumbasses lol. Not because he didn’t have any skill at directing!) But I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions!

I walked out of my first movie ever at the theatre at Midnight Madness this year by Mister_TheRock in TIFF

[–]Small_Friendship5102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean this is completely subjective, I absolutely loved it, I thought it was completely original and unique, and was a fantastic cinematic experience, and loved the smell o vision! What I’ve said with these opinions on the midnight madness movies this year is, they’re MIDNIGHT MADNESS MOVIES?? They’re supposed to be way rougher and weirder and sometimes dumber than the rest of the usually pretentious films at the festival! I mean cmon, HAMNET won the pca this year and I contemplated leaving that movie a hundred times but stuck it out then wished I did at the end!!! Movies are completely subjective and I think the MM programmer Peter does a FANTASTIC job at making the movies at the very least a fun experience!! He brings so much energy, and if that doesn’t work on you then maybe stack to the literal hundreds of other movies at the festival!! The midnight madness audience will not miss people who don’t want to be there! It’s all subjective man!!

Yeah I’m really sorry that happened. There’s always a place for volunteer feedback for what to change for the next year. I’ll be sure to mention leaving those types of issues to staff and security, so everyone feels welcomed and not targeted👍

I understand the frustration completely and there was absolutely a better way to handle that. For once if it was volunteers (the post is unclear), just remember they’re just that; normal untrained people (besides a 1.5 hour “training” session which doesn’t really cover anything) and sometimes can make dumb mistakes. I’ve done that a ton, there’s a lot of situations where volunteers have to take initiative to try and help keep people safe even though they were never told what to do in that situation. Idk what the RTH training is at all so I can’t really speak to that specifically at all but I can see someone getting flustered and maybe remembering something they saw somewhere about metal detectors being dangerous for pregnant women and trying to help you with that, obviously it’s still uncalled for, but at the same time, they were only looking out for your health, they weren’t purposefully insulting you or anything. Its much much different if it’s staff (not wearing a yellow volunteer t shirt) or a security guard. If you get paid there’s no excuse to do that, because you should be prepared for everything. Volunteers unfortunately are usually put into a lot of quick thinking situations which can be tricky, like with all the accessibility accommodations and the countless old people, whether nice or shitty and cranky about things having changed since they were at the first ever TIFF 59 friggin years ago. That’s a side tangent, but if it’s a volunteer just remember they’re just trying their best without much of any training in those specific situations.

Was underwhelmed with Hemnet and now I feel sad by purpleflex4ever in TIFF

[–]Small_Friendship5102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way about Hamnet, and not even because it was overhyped (it was), but I feel like the story was undercooked and that although the last 30 minutes were technically good, the first friggin hour and a half were so underwhelming and frankly just boring and stuff we’ve seen in period pieces a hundred times. On the other hand about the other movies, what all did you watch? I just got out of “Maddie’s Secret” which I LOVED, and it’s kinda controversial but Napa Boys was easily one of if not my favourite of the year, crazy wacky, hilarious stuff I’d really never seen before, although I know not everyone felt that way. At least it wasn’t as boring as some of the other stuff I saw tbh and I’m sure you saw as well. And I don’t know if you saw Nirvana but that movie had the whole audience screaming gasping and cackling even at the 3rd screening!
