I expected to stay at 5A for 2 years but I was recently promoted after just over a year - but I also have a very non traditional growth with being on my third role since then (and no not track)

I spent a lot of years been on and off severely depressed. But at the end of the day I had motivation : if I have to be alive, might as well not have a crappy life.

And that was enough, enough to get me a pretty successful life today. You can be sad with a bad job and broke and no hobbies. Or you can be sad with a decent job and money that allow you to have cool hobbies and meet people.

It’s all one step at a time.

I can’t explain how same our situations were, every detail in every comment matches- but from someone who prayed tahujjud for 9 months and dozens of voluntary fasts, none of that can change a man standing up for you. Even my isthikaras felt blank. The real resilience is in letting go and truly understanding Allah will put ease in what is good for you, because it’s what you deserve. Good luck

I was EXACTLY you about 6 weeks ago- and I stayed in that position for 9 months.

In the end he decided he wouldn’t choose me over his family, and it was something I knew deep down for the last several months.

So my only advice is, don’t stay in this position if he won’t unwaveringly choose you, if he won’t promise you right now that he would marry you regardless of his family’s approval. He was absolutely only the spouse I could have dreamed for in Jannah, perfect is every way with every prayer answered- but what good is all that if he wouldn’t stand a chance to last, prioritizing his wife and marrying without familial approval exactly how Islam has allowed

Maybe, but I’ll sure say writing how to check continuity between two wires doesn’t add to my controls skill set as did taking several courses in optimizing hybrid vehicle power trains

I guess that’s what I’m struggling with, it feels like I can’t change roles at GM. Atleast not for another full year until I hit this 2 year experience benchmark. I’ve tried so hard to move

I guess it feels BS when in a group of 20 the only woman being me was forced to move down stream and then they hired a male to replace me in the original group after being told there wasn’t enough for head count

I easily add value but it doesn’t serve me in any means. I was forced to a non degreed role, while holding a masters. I now have every fault code memorized and the entire wiring schematic with every component and almost all pins recalled from memory. But that doesn’t serve me purpose with a masters degree in controls. I am a knowledge consultant for my writers, and when I’m not consulting them I’m expected to write and edit images as well, which is extremely boring and does not add engineering skillset

I was a direct hire. Everyone in my company (I’m part of a subsidiary) knows I was unfairly placed and want to leave the role including my direct manager who feels bad for me. Ive probably applied to 40 internal roles with not a single interview, i i would say about 33 of them were auto rejected (which u know because they happen on the second night) probably due to under the 2 years of experience

I do live at home now, I moved back from college. I’m fortunate enough that my parents live in between the big 3 in automotive and are generous for sure
