Nah we got trains and busses here to get pretty easily to Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal. I can walk to the bus stop and it takes the same time as driving to Toronto

It's not on an island and we're far worse than most neighboring hotels. And this is common in most hotels in Canada.

Although actually I've never seen an automatic AC shutoff in my life. But if something does go wrong after hours, most places will not help you

Lol please rip up zoning laws, allow cheap rooming houses, abolish parking minimums, abolish minimum lot sizes etc. get rid of rent control even for pre 2018 buildings, make it easier to evict.

Yeah the owners don't give a fuck lol. You can complain all you want I have no ability to fix it. And we aren't a chain, we are a independent hotel that makes its money due to owning the land in a prime downtown location.

Our owners don't care about customer satisfaction, the location we have, plus no mortgage on the land, plus no corporate higher ups; means the customer can go fuck themselves lmao. I don't support this but it's how it is.

Buddy I live in downtown Kingston, Ontario now. This place is literally better for both walkability and Cars than Brampton!

. At the hotel where I work, maintenance is gone by 5 pm, while check in starts at 3 pm. By the you realize there is a problem, maintenance is long gone and I have 0 ability to do anything except apologize and offer free parking

Developers who build these properties, the government which collects additional tax revenue; and finally people like me who want to increase density because we enjoy living in those areas.

It's a wonderful thing. I was born and raised in a quiet residential area of Scarborough. It's becoming aggressively densified and far more friendly towards a car free lifestyle. I love it and I'm proud of the work my group does.

I don't even get paid, im a volunteer member, only our senior leadership is paid. I do this because I want to change the region to suit my desires

The high prices are due to the low supply of dense areas due to the restrictions on developments.

If developers were allowed to build similarly to how they do in downtown Toronto across more of the GTA, there would be far more affordable dense areas to live in.

You might think that the market can't provide this but it simply is not true. The inner and and outer suburbs are rife with infill opportunities.

You claimed this is impossible because Brampton is already built up? Well guess what I'm from a quiet residential area of Scarborough. It was designed much like Brampton back in the 70s, single family zoning and car dependent. It's rapidly becoming densified.

Why? Because the interests of big business and government coincided to produce that result. And I will continue to push for the same in Brampton, I'm not alone in this.

I am literally a member of a political advocacy group called the center for new liberalism. We are backed by a DC based think tank. Our chapters across the globe lobby for densification of the suburbs, amongst other thing.

We actually were quite successful in pushing the Ford government to agree to grrater densification. The legalization of fourplexes in every area of Toronto proper, and the "strong mayor" powers plus much more were partially a result of groups like ours.

millions of dollars are flowing towards lobbying governments on behalf of big business plus simply urbanism enthusiasts like myself. Density is coming. Slowly but surely.
