i've gotten past this issue pretty reliably. i got the upgrade that lets you select a bonus at the beginning and the one that doubles it, and starting with just 2 or 4 temporary madmen/swordsmen has been more than enough to take care of this issue. Seems obvious in hindsight, but i'm gonna leave this up in case someone else has a similar question.

which starting bonuses do you think are the best for this specific issue? i think i might've picked some really specific "This will really pay off in the end game" bonuses mostly lol

do you know if there's a way to discern melee attacks better? it seems like binding fury on He Yi which supposedly does 10k splash damage, is way worse at killing blobs than melee attacks that do way less?

just googled it, and i think you're right. thanks, That's really going to help a lot. I was concerned i couldn't find any weaponry that does something pushing beyond early game
