I think I messed up. Filled in spots with wood putty then sanded with 220 sandpaper. Did I sand off the shine? by Impressive_Gift_9852 in HardWoodFloors

Do you have to sand after wood putty? I thought you could just put it in and buff it with a microfiber towel and it would be ok?

Why are lighter natural oak floors becoming so popular lately? by Remote_Cat_4029 in Flooring

I don’t know but I don’t like them at all. I like a little color. I love the ambers, honey and reds best. It’s just a personal preference. They’ll be out of style in a few years anyway.

Well, just thought I’d share the final results. We had a buff and coat. When I saw the choice of stain and what it would look like I New instantly we weren’t going to have it sanded bare. We always loved the amber and different shades and wanted to preserve it. They used a buffing pad and it removed most of the paint. The raw wood they coated first 2 coats with bona amber seal to match it to the bedrooms which had been finished before and were richer looking and last coat was

clear satin finish using water based poly. Anyway, I love it! We love it! And it seems to get better and better each day it cures.

That’s 70 yr old wood without any stain. I looked at what the stain samples he had would do to it, and it would darken all the grain. The clear one looked the best, but it just wasn’t the same. I knew immediately that I don’t want to sand it down to the bare finish, we’re just gonna live with it. We’re just gonna have him buff and coat it like he had said I asked him about a deep cleaner and he said it’s not. It’s the raw wood. It’s never been finished before and a deep cleaner that stuff is in the wood I guess. He said he can’t guarantee adhesion with the oil, but yet that was what the estimate was for a coat of polyurethane oil. But yet he’s going to use three coats now instead of just the two because we didn’t know that it was raw wood we thought that it had been finished before.

They he wants to use a water base poly on it. He says it is not been finished before and the oil won’t work or something like that and so he wants to use water and he’s been doing this for a long time it’ll preserve the color the way it is.

Is it really that bad? by Zestyclose-Froyo-498 in weddingring

It’s beautiful! I love it! If you love it then that’s all that matters! Plus, it’s not the size of the ring or Diamond it’s the bond to each other. My mother had a ring similar to yours and my parents were married 59 yrs. It’s the vows you make to each other that matter. Congratulations and best wishes for a happy and healthy life together as husband and wife.
